need help wireing sub god im a noob

ok i thought i had this and new what i was doing

dual 2ohm sub wired to 1ohm..

12volt says conect a wire from + to + and - to - on the sub

is this just a simple one pice of speaker wire conecting the sides.. cause when saw my mates that a shop did..comeing out the box was a 3rd wire that didnt conect to the amp or anything it was just siting there and i was so confused

(iv done nothing above 200watts in a system)

then do i conect + on one side of the sub to + on amp and on other side of the sub the - to - on amp..

connect both positive terminals together with a wire, then do the same with the negative. now take a wire from the + on the amp to one of the + terminals on the sub and repeat for the negaitve side

Shops do a lot of stupid things, and never explain why.

Lol. The only thing I can think of is if they wired in series and they just ran the pos/neg wire connection out of the box
