To combat impedance rise you need magical dust. ... When a coil moves up and down the coil resistance changes, and the box just changes how much the coil moves at certain freqeuncies. Thinking is the root of all problems... You ALWAYS get what you pay for.

Boon Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 Ok, to explain it roughly in 'laymans' terms... A conventional speaker driver uses a coil moving in a magnetic field. When you move a coil through a field it induces a current through the coil. (Keyword: Inductance) This current is in the opposite direction from that in which the drive current is running through the coil. Obviously it is quite a lot less than the drive current but nevertheless it impedes the flow of current (Keyword: Impedance) This impedance (AC impedance, Z, is very very different to DC Resistance, Re - both are measured in ohms though) is what causes 'impedance rise' 10.x volts fo' life!

Subs won't take anywhere close to the power people think they are giving them going by amp ratings previously known as wenn_du_weinst aka fucking internet coward supreme. I talk shit on other forums like a little bitch and hope i don't get caught out on the street.
