sundownz
They do look like old school cheap speakers. Stamped basket FTL. doesn't really matter what they look like though, as long as they sound good and price is good. Putting fancy coatings, colors, or even different cone / dust cap material would hurt performance (paper is still one of the best cone materials out there). Same goes for the surround -- a rolled surround would hurt performance. As for the frame -- again, no performance gain, and the motor is a super light Neo so no structural need whatsoever. The goal was to provide a no nonsense high efficiency / strong mid-bass driver at the best cost we could. I will consider making an even higher end unit if these sell well. xXxOuTLaWxXx
I would really like to see a high end 3 way setup from you guys. Something that can bang out the mids and play the highs as smooth as a new paint job. sundownz
Both the 8" and 10" have a very similar frequency response -- which is quite usable from 50 to 5000 Hz -- after 5k you have a gradual drop off. If they are to be played at high power I would of course suggest a 24 dB crossover slope at around 60 - 80 Hz -- if a large array of drivers is used this could be lowered as each driver will need to move less. If only a couple are used and it is desired to keep up with a huge system I would go fro a ~80 - 100 Hz crossover point. Expected in stock early April. Benji0687
Any plans for some factory grills to go with these? I'm considering these for my doors but they'd need some protection for my dumb friends.
