eric78702
Can someone explain to me how to choose batteries and alternators for a system I have no clue how these things work...
hdorre
Here's the equation to estimate amplifier current draw: Watts/volts/efficiency= amperes. I multiply the amperes by .5 because music isn't constant tones and there's always a change in impedance. bumonskateboard6
If you are running them both at 1ohm you're gonna need alt and some batteries. I'd suggest a 260-320 amp alternator, the biggest XS Power battery you can fit up front, and then a D3100 or combination of smaller batteries (whatever you can fit) in the back. AMI CUSTOMS
Really depends on how you have them wired, strapped or not and at what ohm load, those amps make a good amount of power strapped at a low ohm load. Also depends on whether you are talking about burp or music as well. CJ18
You will have a max of 5000w out of those 2 amps. To get the maximum performance out of them, you will need to keep your voltage as high as possible. You can figure that those amplifiers will pull max of 200 amps each. For this setup, I would get a 270a alternator along with whatever size XS battery will replace your stock location and add 2 XS 3100s in the back. The equation I like to use for figuring out how many batteries is take your max RMS watts and double it and buy batteries accordingly. The 3100s will handle 5000w+ each. With 2 plus the battery under the hood, you should have somewhere around 14000w of power handling in the batteries. With this you should see minimal voltage drop at full tilt. If he has to ask this question, then I wouldnt recommend running any amp below factory spec. I am sure the amp will do over rated power in the right application and built by someone who knows what they are doing. Even if he were to see 6-7k out of the amps 2 3100s and a stock replacement XS Power Battery and a 270amp alt would be sufficient.

Carry on, but OP we really need to know what you are wanting to do with the amps, and what you are connecting to them. Because if you are just going to play music thru them and only get around 4k or less out of the pair, then no need for 2 xs 3100's.
