Sanitarium
imagine a wave now imagine it growing now imagine it grows so big that the top and bottom get cut off square. that's clipping.
baaudio
I always tell people to think of a wave how its smooth and round. The clipping is like the mouth of a jack-o-lantern. kingtutus
clipping is when your amp is putting out dc volt in stead of ac. it can happen when ur amp is turned to far up or your volt are dropping to low.
TheBetterMethod
Check out Ed's YouTube channel, ShowtimeSPL. I remember him having a video that he explained clipping and whatnot. I'll try to get you a link to the specific vid. He's HHR Ed on here. EDIT: Maybe I was mistaken, I can't seem to find it. But yeah instead of smooth curvy waves your putting out square waves. Chode69
clipping is when your amp is putting out dc volt in stead of ac. it can happen when ur amp is turned to far up or your volt are dropping to low. actually that is false. an amplifier is not capable of producing DC current unless there is a dead short on the circuit or the DC filter gets burned out. which would as well mean a blown amp. clipping is unclean power that causes excessive heat along the coil. most time it will cause the coils to get chared or unwind hence a blown coil unclean power would be like this trying to draw water out of a bucket 2 gallons per minute when it can only be filled a gallon a minute. its pushing out more "power" than is being brought in Quote NoFearX18 said: Nick will bang just about anything.....LMAO....pun intended On 4/13/2010 at 9:51 AM, meade916 said: i was like DAMN, Chode is hardcore! he makes james look like a friendly person LOL! trainman0978 said: I dont know who is worse with the buttholes Chode or Big P... Carroot1
audio waves... you want them like ~ not like /`\_/`|... that was one fucked up wave it would sound horrible too, just set ur gains right and it wont happen again next time put them in a ported box so you can smell the coil burning right away and turn down the volume before its to late Edited January 16, 2011 by Carroot1
