thesilve15 Posted January 18, 2011 Author Report Posted January 18, 2011 well ethanol still eats at gaskets if it sits for a long period of time.. and causes varnish note to you.. when your done riding shut the gas off and run it outta gas.. no more problems.. ya this one was carless thinking on my part....
JEMT8 Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 with all the ethanol in gas nowadays the shelf life of gas is two weeks. i refilled the bike when i was riding but it had some old gas still in there so hopefully it will flush it out the ethanol absorbs water and when the fuel goes stale the water will separate. and if you get water in your carb you should clean it anyways so id doesn't gunk up or rust. formerly known as Jaylor Swift

spl_bird Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 if u said it looked milky they it deff a water pump gasget you will need to drain the oil and coolnt and it could be the water pump gaget or head gastet so u will have to pull the motor off the get to it. you have to pull the water pump off to put a new one on and the head off to and put one on the head too. this could of happend if got the bike to hott and it being hott and going in to water or mud.. thesilve15 Posted January 27, 2011 Author Report Posted January 27, 2011 haha you guys wont believe this, first off i want to thank all you guys for helping me out with your opinions or tricks you've tried before. just a recap, my bike was smoking pretty bad for a 4 stroke after sitting for awhile, putting too high of weight of oil in the bike and just wasnt giving me an power going out of first... being on the safe side, i decided to take my bike to the cycle center here in town and i couldnt believe how much they were trying to pull money out of me. first off they charge me $179 just to look at the bike then i called them today and the guy told me ill need: -new head gasket -new rings -new valves -valve adjusters and some other crap.... that + labor would come out to over $1,800 in parts and labor....that is such im going to try to get it tomarrow and pick it up from there and take it to a specialized Kawasaki service... keep ya posted
