thesilve15 Posted January 27, 2011 Author Report Posted January 27, 2011 my bike did the same thing. just clean all the carb jets real good and try to find gas without ethanol. theres a station by my house that sells 110 octane leaded racimg fuel. my bike loves it! your bike was blowing blue smoke out the pipe? I'm having a hard time believing just cleaning the carb would fix that i heard if its blue smoke it could just be too much oil in the engine...way too much got put in last time it was changed, i drained it and put the right amount, after its warmed up it smokes way less, like heavy throttle smoke..

thesilve15 Posted January 28, 2011 Author Report Posted January 28, 2011 hey guys, so i told you id keep you posted and i know many of you dont care but i thought id fill you in anyway. so this morning i picked up my bike and took it to another cycle dealership and they checked it out, told me its a clogged carb, and it was smoking alot but would let off once it warmed up or you reved it, the problem they figure is blown rings in the motor but needed the ok to take it apart so ill find out tomarrow. theyre going to clean the carb out and see what else is going on then let me know what parts ill need. said it will be nowhere near $1800 hopefully it will only be the rings, some new seals, and maybe some bearings. anyway, find out tomarrow!

I had a shop tell me the motor in my Caprice was shot...and it only had 90k on it. The previous owner had a dealership do the maintenance on it and when I bought it I was super picky about keeping it in top shape. Ended up doing a full tune up, running Royal Purple oil, and it runs like a champ. Hopefully they can get your bike up n going for cheap. ya im hoping so im already like 250 into just labor and tomorrow theyll tell me the final verdict. kinda nervous but i want to start riding again sooo damn bad.
thesilve15 Posted January 31, 2011 Author Report Posted January 31, 2011 alright so got it all cleared up, took it over to the other dudes and was sooo shocked how much the first guys were trying to rip me off see what happened is the lower ring in my piston that lets oil in and scrapes of the access oil was stuck causing too much oil to get in which explained the smoking deal. secondly the lack of power was a result of a really clauged carb, like we all guessed. anyway, with parts and labor it comes out to $600! not to bad considering they were saying $1800
