But unless you can get it right on a woofer cone or a moving object, it wont do much. It works a bit better at higher frequencies. What happens is that with little or no energy present, the cornstarch/water mix behaves like a liquid. But when enough energy is applied, it exhibits behaviors as a solid. So the formations you see are actual nodes of energy changing that part of the fluid into a solid.
