~digital~bass~ Posted September 27, 2007 Author Report Posted September 27, 2007 somebody please slap me now...i tried to do the work of people just by myself and look what happened... the first layer i got on perfectly fine no bubbles no nothing but while on the 2nd layer the brash was ***in hard and the resin kept hardening up on me...as you can tell the bottom part is all good and soaked up with resin but the top half the brush was hard and so was the resin and it didnt come out so good...but it is still really hard...not to bad though the 2 layers is strong as fawk...when i do the other side and back an front panel im telling my girl to come so she can help me...cant really tell but it is 2 layers...i was thinkin put another layer on the areas that didnt get enough...any1 got any other suggestion? philip Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 if it's a bubble, grind it out. if it's just not enough resin, just add more. and buy a lot of disposable brushes and cut the bristles. easier to dab. you can always lay some resin first then the mat if that's not what you doing already. it lessens the matt from lifting. btw coming along nicely digi.
~digital~bass~ Posted September 27, 2007 Author Report Posted September 27, 2007 phillip-i put a layer of resin on then i put the mat on then i put another laye of resin then pau...but when i was doing the 2nd layer the bruched turned into a stick and th resin turned into jello lol...is it ok if i just add another layer of mat and resin over the area that didnt get good enough? philip Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 as long as there's is no space between the two layers. you should be fine with just adding more resin. it's not like you molding a piece with no wood behind it. get some laquer thinner. clean the brushes with that even if disposable. sucks to keep on using a new brush between layers. i just keep some in a cup whirl the brush around in it and leave it in there till i start the next layer. i glassed all yesterday with the same brush. you could get a roller too because the surface is flat.
~digital~bass~ Posted September 27, 2007 Author Report Posted September 27, 2007 there is alittle gap between the 2 layers at the top but dont matter bc i gotta put top baffle on and i will 45's the top as well so they will be sealed...i already went though 4 brushes...i would glass the side and front now but dont want it to happen aain so will wait for tomorrow night after i finish work my girl will come over and help me... I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.
~digital~bass~ Posted September 30, 2007 Author Report Posted September 30, 2007 2 layers on all sides...gotta do front as well...and bought half of my accessories...4 fuse holders,4 300 fuses and 4 yards of carpet and a 23ft long rca...i have to buy 4 more fuse holder 4 more fuses 2 more rca's and my fren ran out of 0gauge speaker rings should get in by tuesday......ordered alt on monday from dom and keep e-mailing him but he never answers...waititigng on it so i can start installing... and just a quik mok up of how everything will look... not dissin dom in anyway but after i ordered my alt this is the e-mail i sent... "hey dome well i sent your money out not to long ago,i just wanna reconfirm with you i have bought a 260 alternator,the 7mm spacer and extra for the external regulator correct?any idea on how long production might be and idea on shipping date?" his reply bak "thnx for the order" Car Audio + Bodyboarding/Longboarding = LIFE!!!
