toadking90 Posted January 27, 2011 Author Report Posted January 27, 2011 use torres calculator it tells you everything you need to know i know it tells me thats why i want to know how much it should be. if its 8 per foot or something. other wise ima just make it tuned low not worry about all of that
smokeumtires Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 All depends on the sub and the size of the woofer..... I use a general 12per on single sub boxes over 1k watts but thats just me
MrSkippyJ Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 i know it tells me thats why i want to know how much it should be. if its 8 per foot or something. other wise ima just make it tuned low not worry about all of that port area has nothing to do with tuning and everything to do with port noise. port area deals with what subs you are using, has nothing to do with box size. Gatorcity Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 Ppl will tell you 12-16 square inches, others will tell you 14-20 square inches...i think its personal preference...i used 16 square inches on my box comic on tv: I got a concussion from playing t-ball when i was younger, we dont really have time to go into that! . . . . 15 seconds pass . . . . . my girl: no one pitches to you in t-ball, do they???
JPagan Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 You usually wanna aim for 12-16 square inches per cube, My box is 15 per cube and it sounds great.
ChevyBoy95 Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 12 has always worked for me, and on Torres' calc i think it is 12-16 for slot port and 9-13 for aero ports. Ricky A. Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 ive always heard for aero ports 8 to 10 round ports 10 to 12 and slot ports 12 to 16. toadking90 Posted January 27, 2011 Author Report Posted January 27, 2011 the box i am designing is going to be 6 cub's. so to make a port big enough for that with 12 per foot at 18.5 inches tall for port which is the max i can go upwards and 4 wide it has to be 20 inches long to make it to the 37 hertz tuning freq. i am trying to get it down to 35. my box can be no bigger than 20 total outer dem. so my port is not possible at 12 per foot. what do i do about that? just not go for 12 ? do maybe 8 or somthing?
