TylerParrish Posted December 11, 2012 Report Share Posted December 11, 2012 My car has been in the shop for nearly a month now, I just called them today, they have my alternator in and fixed the problem with my valve covers, now all they're trying to figure out is why my car idles at 3k when you first turn it on and then drops back down to normal right after that. Does anyone have any kind of explanation for why that might be happening? Also, it isn't the alt because it happened before and after they put the new alt in. Like the anti-theft keeping the car from starting, that shits annoying. Its in the shop, I have no idea what they have and haven't done to/for it. But I'm doubting they've let it run for 15 mins at a time, but it's never happened before, even when I was installing everything and constantly messing with the electrical. But do what Raptorman said, let it sit for 15 or so minutes next time you put gas in. And to everyone, i have no idea what exactly is goin on with the car, its in the shop and i havent seen it in 3-4 weeks. nick366 Posted December 11, 2012 Report Share Posted December 11, 2012 For your Ford Mustang, try cleaning out your idle air control valve. It is attached to your plennum either bolted on or its attached with a hose. Clean it out with CRC mass air flow sensor cleaner and clean your maf sensor while your at it.
