Some might ask why i didn't put an ipad into the dash to begin with. Well for starters, there wasn't a such a thing as an ipad when i installed the current setup (in my Tahoe). The current setup is a Mac Mini with VGA (and USB) out to a 10.2" touch screen monitor. It is all ran off of a dc/dc power converter. The mac mini feeds the Rockford Fosgate 3sixty.3 via optical (tosslink) cable. It sounds great! It is nice, it is faithful, has never givin' me any problem. It is just out dated. The clarity of a modern ipad compared to the screen that is in there is mind blowing. Plus, my sausage fingers have a hard time scrolling with the old 10.2". It's just had it's time. Not to mention, i leave it on 24/7 which causes parasitic battery drain if don't keep the Tahoe on a charger all day every day. Shutting down works, but who has time for that. The mac mini has probably been shut down 2 times in 7 or 8 years. Never skipped, never froze up, never gave me any problems. Still on the original operating system too. I have no idea but put it this way, windows XP was still a hot operating system when i got this. LOL
So now to the topic at hand. I have been wanting to do this for a while. Today i swooped up it's replacement. A 12.9" Ipad Pro - 256 gigs and just to make sure i don't lose signal, i got cellular on it as well. These pictures are just early photo's of the product. I am waiting on my semi-oneoff-ish side slider kit from Doug at Soundman! He don't really make them but he made me one! Here is the pics
