  2. I may only have 2 12"s on 1200 watts but it 'aint stock and its CUSTOM! lol
  3. Do we get car-stickers if we're on the team? I'd roll in my whip wearin' the team SMD logo for sure. I wanna represent team SMD in OHIO!! lol
  4. To the ford/chevy argument.... Well I have a Ford Mustang AND a Chevy Nova.... they both smoke people in the lane allll daaaay... So I can take both sides of that argument AND back it up. Someone said check the mass airflow sensor: after I upgraded the throttle body and added a cold air intake to my 05Mustang, I had sort of the same problem... I just made sure things were tight, and one of the thigs I took out/cleaned was that sensor... Maybe it got a tad dirty or was a little loose or crooked after changing the cold air intake but Lo and behold it was running normal after that.
  5. I hear it's even more dangerous for the people who throw themselves out there to stop the bikes from rolling back down. Check this one out, its one of the longest hill climb courses ever. I'm not sure if they still have the champoinships here or not...
  6. If you have 2 subs, and the subs are "4 ohms each", and each sub has "dual voice coils," Then you can wire the subs down to 1 ohm to get the most power out of you amp. BUT you must make sure your amp is one ohm stable, or you could fry the amp. You can also wire the subs to 4 ohms, but like I said above, you need a sub that can handle at least a 4 ohm load if you go this way. But usually you won't get as much power at 4 ohms as you would at 1 ohm. (The things in italics, you can tell if your subs are this type just by looking at their description on the box they came in)
  7. People here will tell you to get a battery instead of capacitors, but I have a capacitor because I have a small system. I'm only running 1200 watts... But they say get 1Farad per every 1000 watts you have. I have a Rockford Fosgate digital capacitor and it tells me my voltage at the amps and it hasn't failed me yet. As for amps, what Bassick posted above are all very good. Just make sure they do 1200 watts at the ohm load you want.
  8. Man, I've been having shitty luck lately too, but not as bad as you. I spent all this week building and painting a custom box and come to find out I cant fit in in my car (measured inside trunk deminisions, forgot to consider the trunk opening) and I scratched things up trying to force it in... and then on the way back to college, still mad from my box not fitting, after this nasty wind storm, I'm driving home at 9:30pm, and a car comes at me with its brights, and before I knew it, I smashed my 4 week old Mustang into a huge ass log/tree branches that fell onto the road from the wind at 65 mph. I couldn't see what was in front of me because that dumbass wouldnt stop blinding me with his brights. Now I have a VERY scratched up front bumper/side/hood on my BRAND NEW black Mustang... That bunch of branches/log was taller than my car laying on the road. [sorry for thread jack] But just keep looking up man, it seems like a lot of people here are having bad luck lately. Things will get better in time, good things will make up for the bad, and before you know it, you'll be thinking "Hell yeah, things are finally going my way!" Its times like these that make you appreciate the good times, and help you prepare for the bad later on.
  9. wtf is it? a turtle waitin to get on a bus in 14 minutes? is something amazing supposed to happen???
  10. So if I read correctly, at one ohm mono, they will put out about 1200 watts RMS? And the bass remote is included? And for the pre-order price, they are comparable (and cheaper) to some Rockford models... I just got my jury duty check, I might have to snag two.
  11. I've been looking for a way to hardwire my ipod into my '05 mustang without having to use an FM transmitter.... but this seems to be a bit above what I want to pay if there are other routes. (what those routes are, I'm not sure yet... lol) And I have a factory head unit, the shaker 500 6-disk system....
  12. You're going to need to buy a domain, and then find a web host so they can host your website for you. So you need to buy your webspace. Then you need to design, build/code, and maintain your website. So after you buy your domain and webhosting, you need to design you whole layout in photoshop (or something similar), then cut up and code your layout (in Dreamweaver or something similar), then upload all of that to your website. Then of course you have to add all of your text and that stuff... There are sooooo many things you need to do to build, run, and maintain a website. If you have no idea what you are doing, then it will be mighty tough to get it all right. I hope you understand HTML and maybe some PHP... CSS... If you don't have any idea what its all about... It's no small task. Just a heads up. Maybe look into a free webhost, and expirament on one first, just to see what its all about. Good luck
  13. Is there a website that has a list of these show dates for next year so I can keep track? I'm away at college now so I can't go to much, but I live in north-central ohio, halfway between Columbus and Cleveland. I've never been to a competition, so is there any place where I can read up on rules and procedures for these events? Also, what is the average distance people travel to go to shows/competitions? Because Cinci sounds sort of far for a show with a good few hours of drive time one way, but maybe that's just the normal distance travel to shows?? Because when I take my Nova to car shows, I don't drive more than 45 minutes. And theres usually something every weekend.
  14. Ok, so seats down is louder either way, I think we have that established. Now its a matter of knowing which way to face the subs, front or back. Like I said, I have a 2005 Mustang with a small trunk. I'll have to either build the box in the trunk, or slide in in through the back seats because the the trunk lid opening is too small to fit a box through it. Maybe I'll make a mock up box with one sub and see if forwards or back is louder before I make the final one. Any other input? Thanks for the help so far. EDIT: And the cabin is quite small too so I'm thinking that having subs forward would create more pressure in the cabin than with the seats up. If I feel abitious, I could try to seal it all off and make a "Mini-wall" like I've seen some people here do. But right now, that is a little more that what I want to do to start out.
  15. Ok, I searched, and couldn't find any answers to this. I'm pretty new to building my own stuff so don't bash me about this, I need to learn somehow... I have a 2005 Mustang, and I'm putting 2 12" P3's in it on a p1000-1bd amp. So at 1 ohm, each amp is gettin about 600w rms full tilt. (I know, this may not be up to the "big boys" standards, but I have to start somewhere, and please don't criticize me on my choice of equiptment) The trunk is so tiny and akwardly shaped, that I think I'm going to have to go sealed. Now here is the question: I've seen people say that if you have a trunk car, to have the subs face backwards and close to the back of the trunk. But then I've seen people folding down the seats and have the subs face forward into the cabin. I'm wondering, which would be louder and move more air? I know, I'm not looking to get a hairtrick from 2 12's, and I'm not into competition (partially because I can't find much in Ohio), but I want it to be loud to the ear. Numbers really don't matter at this time, I just want to get a feel for what I'm doing first. Just "loud to the ear" is good with me, and I don't like trunk rattle either. So, seats up with subs back, or seats down with subs forward? I appreciate any help you guys may have.
  16. I have a TI-83+ Silver Edition, pretty much a TI-84. I use it for all of my math-related courses here at college, and a few of the people in the classes have the TI-89's. I don't have experience with the 89's, but from being in class with people who have them, I believe there is very little difference. From what I understand, there is more memory and it has a smoother looking keypad layout. In class, when there are instructions to do something on the calculator, the steps are the same for both calculators. No matter what calculator we are using, we have no compatibility issues. So from that, I would say the function is the same and you wouldn't have to learn much if you upgrade. One thing I think might be a problem, is that some of they keys are in different locations on the 89 than on the 83-84, but when you find them they essentially do the same thing.
  17. My brother and I are going when it's coming to The Blossom Center in Ohio... Last year was amazing, this year should be good as well.
  18. Edit: The OP doesn't want any trouble, ignore this post So it's a guy you know playing a trick on you?? But if you still want, you can go here and send texts to people for free, just make up a "callback number" so they obviously don't know who it's from. http://www.alltel.com/wps/portal/AlltelPub...endATextMessage
  19. See my edit above for further advice. Also about carrying the sand bag, I "pretended" like it was the coil of hose, I carried it like I would carry the hose. This also helped my grip. I apologize for not clairifying that.
