  1. Battery won't discharge, but I have proven it will cause creative use and combinations of profanity if you happen to accidentally kick that sneaky bastard.
  2. Sounds like a horrible idea. It's been done before, albeit in a different fashion. Trailer shops usually carry "spring helpers" for coil springs. They're just spacers that install between the coils, and by preventing two or more sets of coils from compressing together they increase the rate of the spring. Just throwing it out there is Steve wanted to save the cost of coilovers to get the car's rear end jacked back up.
  3. Sagging rear could be fixed by welding in some steel rod between two of the coils. Every set of coils in a spring you make inactive (no longer compress) you make the spring stiffer.
  4. A. Tuned in for this build. Bet it'll surprise a lot of people seeing all that crammed in that little Toyota. B. Man, screw the trolls and don't let'em get to you. Just push the button, to Hell with'em, and don't let'em get your blood pressure up.
  5. I listen to podcasts while at work, gotta have something to break up the monotony of a 9 hours shift sitting at a computer. I used to enjoy Amplified, Soundman CA's podcast, before he shortened the episodes to practically nothing. If you're looking for input on a podcast, try to mix up the podcast here and there. A podcast showing nothing but product reviews is going to get old quick. Show installs, how-tos, interviews with guys that have been in the industry/hobby and are known, and I for one would happily subscribe.
  6. Daily: coffe like a MF'er Beer: Abita (local), Guinness, occasionally other dark beer. Liquor: Gentleman Jack straight on the rocks, Disarono in ginger ale/coke, or Bailey's in some strong black coffee.
  7. Thanks for that. I lurked for a couple of weeks checking out Meade's builds (freaking crazy) and everyone else's (equally crazy in a lot of cases). Decided to register to learn more and see if I can lend a hand where I have some experience (screwing things up and learning as I fix it.)

ya im with you there last car system was worth probably 5+ times what it was worth.

its expensive but lots of fun.

  9. Just registered, and figured I'd be sociable and introduce myself. My name is Phil, from Mandeville, Louisiana. I'm not what I'd call a basshead, but I've never heard a factory car audio system I could put up with for too long without tearing it all apart and making it more in line with my preferences. Looks like I'm falling in with good company. I'll get some pictures up here later, show ya'll around my car. The audio is really nothing serious, all done on a budget (mortgage + kid = no money) but it gets a little bit better every tweak I add. It's my daily driver, and I haul my wife and kid around so walls/big crazy installs aren't in the cards for me. I take pride in doing my own work, and trying to learn more every time I touch a car. If anyone is in the area (I've seen a few members in Slidell/NOLA while browsing around) I'd love to make a few new friends, lend a hand where I can, and learn more along the way. Looking forward to seeing more of everyone's work.
