I said "new-ish" because it was advertised as new never used, but was from a random 3rd party. I know how that goes. A) I'm usually not eligible for warranties B ) Maybe they really did use it once or twice (which I'm fine with). But once you guys replied and it became clear this DD1 is ~3 years old, I just called it used. Paying $140 for it, when a brand new one is $150..... yeah. Bah. I don't really care anymore. It's in pretty good shape. I was just shocked to find a "new never used" unit that was made in 2012. Ya know? Appreciate the reply Steve. And I highly appreciate the support you offer for the DD1. My disc is in good shape. I ripped it to my computer already, just in case I break/scratch the disc at work. I'm sure the DD1 will work perfectly for years, but it's nice to know you're there for us should we need you. I'm not going to call the seller out. First, it wasn't done through the SMD forums. But second, it was sold as a "I bought it and never got around to using it" type of deal. So it IS possible it just sat in someone's drawer for 3 years and then they sold it. It would be random and unlikely, but entirely possible. The DD1 is in good shape and works fine, so I really don't have a leg to stand on. It is what it is. I have a great unit and we're moving forward.

This forum has a standing reputation for ahole-ness. There's more guys measuring their "wiring harnesses" on this board than I've ever seen. Try not to get too worked up over it. A few of your posts did seem a little strong. But no worries. Take a break from the forum for awhile and come back on a new topic later.

What the flying fuck are you even talking about man? How in the hell am I trying to slam Steve for selling anything? I didn't buy it from him or even an actual SMD distributor. The only person I'm even remotely questioning is the 3rd party I bought it from. And the only reason I even care about that is if it's truly used, then I should have paid used price. That's it. For all I know Steve signs every single one of these and " '12 " is a batch number or something. I have no clue, that's why I asked. That's it. Quit trying to read into some shit that ain't there man.

Uhh yeah. I wanted to buy a refurb or used DD1.....because they're 99 frickin dollars refurbed. So what's fishy about that? No. But it is pretty damn peculiar. And as for the difference between a new and used one.... about 50 bucks. That's the difference.

Just bought a new-ish DD1 and it has Steve's scribble on the back. Also, he wrote " '12 ", so I'm guessing it was signed in 2012? Steve? This one was supposed to be brand new never used. Had a friend with tower speakers in the back. I never had anything like that, but I did roll with a boom box powered by D cell batteries for a few months. It played CDs, my car did not. lol

Ehhh tough to say, but the first real stupid loud system I heard when I was young was Diamond M6 subwoofers I think? Four 12"s .... it was the year 2000 though. So if those were out then, I think it was them. lol

Only member since Jan, but I lurked for awhile before signing up. Been on car audio forums for years. Since prolly 2000ish. Was active on the Sounddomain forums, TermPro forums, CarAudioForum, etc etc. Some of those aren't even around anymore. And some, caraudioforum, is nothing like what it used to be. Got overrun by spam there for awhile. Think that drove a lot of people away (me).
