They clearly have mental issues as well, no person with a sound mind would do such a thing to anyone.

Even if the person they targeted wasn't mentally disabled they would have been weak in some way shape or form, predators prey upon the easiest target.

We're comparing two vastly different types of mental issues.

So anyways, what do we do with those who committed the crime then?
