DD-1 Showing distortion over Volume 9

Any time your HU "enhances" the audio signal... its technically distorting it. DD-1 will pick that up. -
DD-1 Showing distortion over Volume 9
Quiet replied to That1Kid's topic in SMD Distortion Detector (DD-1) Topics
I would try it with the original CD. Also make sure any DSP is off, especially if its designed to "fix" MP3 audio. EDIT: just looked up your HU its called Advanced Sound Retreiver. -
the master volume is just that. When it is used with the stock system, it actually has two master volumes since the original still works. But when i go bluetooth directly into the 3sixty, the master volume is the only volume button used. Same for optical and aux (not used at this time). The bluetooth in, off of my ipad, on some "spotify premium" @ 320k, sounds AWESOME. Of course the other ones are to control bass. I fiddle with them while i drive and don't even lift my arm up. Its like ninja-volume I love them in that spot and nothing like drilling more holes in a brand new(ish) ISF Do you even use the volume with the stock unit? I know most systems change the equalization with the volume control to flatten out the bass when you crank it to save your speakers tho I don't know if that's true with the Mark Levinson...

all i can say is dam

Never seen a tire rip up through the sheetmetal like that. Wonder if anyone on the right side posted a vid on youtube... -
Ground? that varies. If you go to the chassis with it, keep it as short as possible. Otherwise, run equal size ground straight to the battery. The latter works well.
-
Evaluate your voltage, and remove the remote wire from your BAMF 2000 and tell us if the 4 channel still gets hot. Ground *might* be ok if voltage is ok. Test both + and - at the amp.
-
If you were dropping to less than 12-13v at idle I'd look at your wiring. Running other amps along with it? EDIT: and does it go into protect?
-
what's your voltage at the terminals on the amp at while volume up?
-
I don't think they suck, either. They put hella work into those cars... however they have "form" in mind much more than "function". My point is that nothing out of either of those shows has as much balance of form and function as I've seen in this build. I'm not so much knocking them as saying you got a good thing going on. again, kudos.
-
I've seen attention to detail in custom cars before, we all have. You have a skill set that some people who've been doing this all their life have. What's different is that a priority has been given to the aural performance of the system instead of just cosmetics. It's actually hard to tell if you made it sound better or look better. Fuck Pimp My Ride and West Coast Customs... This is a real custom car build. Kudos.

no back pressure ftw, i guess I didn't say big box/low tuning was for everyone... but the general rule is a bigger box lends itself to lower tuning. OP, you might need experiment a little to see what you like.
-
Only go bigger if you're gonna tune lower. I have an 8" RE that's in a box twice the size recommended tuned stupid low that plays the low notes in Put On, Rack City and Twista's Yellow LIght.
-
Play a range of known frequencies, one at a time, all at about 1/2 volume. The frequency your sub moves the least will be your tuning frequency. Try not to play 1/2 octave lower than tuning.
-
Is this for the Mini? I know you're just throwing ideas around... Here's XXX sealed vs ported with the cubes you have... Sealed is much flatter without the big peak at 45. If you went with 1 12, you could use just about anything HDC3, Level 4 or XL, Havocs and you might be louder
-
Too much displacement. SXX may work. 1.5k is the highest I'd ever go on a SXX
-
LOL I was just thinking RE XXX... started to model it... Tuned to 32, box peaks at 45. Tune lower and it doesn't get much better. EDIT: reduced volume to 2 cubes
-
Fi Q has a high Qts option for sealed and will eat up 1500w. I know I sound like a broken record but if you want to get the most out of it in 1.2 cubes stuff that bish with polyfill.
-
No, I get what you're saying just fine. Sounds kinda goofy too. I have no doubt that you can hear 26hz on 4 sealed 15s. You make the box large enough and flatten out the rolloff. But that being said, building a proper ported box will have much greater low end extension than the same sub(s) sealed. period. Sealed also promotes cone breakup at higher excursion because the air suspension has little give to it. I'm sure some subs don't get TOO muddy, but it's still worse off than ported.
-
I did, I'm just rooting for ported, that's all. I know you can have some decent bass in sealed, but ever since I built my first ported I knew i'd never go back. But like I said before, if you're gonna go sealed, fill it up 3/4 full of polyfill, and it will help you flatten out the rolloff.
