it smells like burnt electronics, its probably blown (especially if it smells like that AFTER its been off for a while, like you get in the next morning and move it and smell that) if the reading on the DMM set to OHMS isnt approxomately what it should be (say a 4ohm coil can be between like 3.5 and 4.5....and yours reads 1ohm, or even nothing, its blown) if it sounds like a slinky is in there when you move it by hand, its blown if it sticks in, out, or anywhere inbetween, its blown if you hook a battery (like a 9v) to the wires it should pop in or out, if it doesnt, its blown now that you know all about the coil, tinsels can break (they go from the terminal, over or through the spider(s) to the coil at the center, sometimes they will snap or burn through, usually obvious (can also turn black from getting too hot) cones is obvious, they have holes or cracks same for surrounds, it should be constant baskets shouldnt have cracks terminals should uh....terminate properly spiders should be glueed to the basket and the voicecoil former, press around the seams to make sure

its not uncommon for them to be a little bit off, like a 4 is bewtween 3.5 and 4.5, and a 2 may go as low as 1.4 but a 4 being 1ohm is definately wrong....looks like one is down and you learned a lesson about gain and boost

it could...do both VC's measure 4ohm when they are separate? soemtimes when it frys it will melt individual coils together, providing a bit of a short circuit and lowering resistance

i'm always a fan of doing it right the first time, and from what i've seen and heard that AQ will be perfect (and 50 dollars is you not getting coffee for a week, i'm sure you can scrimp and make it happen, its sooo worth it) the other stuff you listed there, from experience, is crap basically. they have trouble doing rated power at any impedance, their 1 and 2ohm ratings are generally never going to happen, and you DO get what you pay for. Magic smoke isnt uncommon with a 100some dollar hifonics.

Its not like I have any problem with the designing or building, I'm just looking for tips. places to get stuff (like veneer) or any finishing suggestions (i mean, its basically a desk and some shelves, i'll make it as nice as possible, but its a flat piece with some verticle pieces holding it up, and I cant see myself spending 300-600 bux for something i still have to friggin assemble.

i like nice things, which means the stuff I like even at ikea is a few hundred bux, and I dont want to have second/third/fourth hand stuff unless I have to. So i was considering building my own out of MDF, like a basic bookshelf type dresser and a sick desk for my tv/computer/surround sound reciever/videogame consoles I'm not sure of how my room will lay out just yet, so no plans or dimensions, but I was looking for advice as to how people may have built theirs, and mainly, how it was finished. I've been thinking of going fancy and finding like leather or vinyl as a desktop and brass tacking it in around the edges, and doing veneer on everything else, but idk where to find like large sheets of veneer like that. anyone have any ideas as to how to join it? (like those ikea spin bolt things? screw it? glue it?)whether to use mdf or particle board? (i was thinking mdf, stronger and paintable, which is nice.) I love the idea of something custom made for my body, equipment, and space, and the designs that catch my eye seem to be running quite a few hundred dollars more than what mdf screws and veneer would cost

try and get them onto like a college campus or something, my school charges like 3.79 for a redbull or monster, and 2.50 for a friggin bottle of coke down the street at the gas station its like 2.19 and 1.75 respectively at walmart its 1.50 and .99.....students living on campus have a hard time getting there though, so they buys hit on campus at rediculous prices.

effeciency is how much of the current draw just goes to heating the amp up, it generally goes lower as impedance drops and is represented as a percentage, 100% being ideal most amps are in like the 85% ballpark at 2-4ohms, at 1ohm some amps will drop as low as 65-55% (aka, 35% of your current draw is heating it up, which means it puts out 35% less power than it should considering it's current rating) thats why the 1ohm rating is lower than the 2, its dropping the effeciency from like 80% to 60% and although it only has half the impedance, its wasting alot of it creating heat, and runs into the problem of drawing too much current. and popping those 75amps of fuses. and overheating.

OMFG! its a 75amp draw max thats 1080watts MAX at 14.4, and 900@12volts with that in mind, call them 800watts rms and maybe 1000 max (at 2 or 1ohm) now that we are past the completely fucked up kenwood rating and agree its 1800watts between the 3 amps(because simple friggin math says so, I'm not even going to get into the effeciency of these which is ATROCIOUS, especially at 1ohm), discuss the best path, i vote change starting batt and run 0g back there to a distro block (or small batt, like hc 600/800/1400)

for starters, caps do NOTHING second, those x1r amps are good for like 750ish watts, maybe 800 at 1ohm but they get hella hot third that highs amp is probably like 50x4 (and those kappa 3.5's wont take more than ~35 watts) so keeping in mind we are working with a like 1800 watt system, not 6000watts: what does your truck have as far as stock electrical? ive seen some with 180amp alts, dual factory alts, dual factory batts, etc. if you have the dual batt setup, or atleast the 180amp alt, all I would suggest is a nice battery (kinetik, powermaster, etc), the biggest you can fit, just to keep up with the breating if you find that your lights still dim or the truck has trouble starting after a long day of driving around beating, consider a new alt, try clicking on that dc power banner at the top of the page for some great stuff, also check mechman/stinger/ohiogen/powermaster or any other reputable alt company

i have that same jigsaw, dont use it for long or itll really fudge up your hands, those squishy things just tear skin off and take some time with your holes, i know it wont be seen but you can atleast make em close to round looks good, and much better than cardboard

no solox, i've sold far more s.p.a.i.r.s than subs...in my experience they blow weekly on 5k for even the 18, the 10 was blown on like 3k pretty damn fast, so if its for anything other than competition you dont really want them.... there is no junk 10, only 12/15/18, there is an trash, but its only 1000wrms (does have a 3in coil though)

i have a whole lot, lol we started an "outdoor club", it was official, in the school offerings of clubs, had a staff advisor, etc. It was an excuse to smoke weed and take over a baseball field of the school to play croquet high for a few hours after school every tues and thurs, we had 2k people sign up, 500 would show up on a good day, literally the most popular club, followed closely by the technology club, same deal, even had its own page on the school website and made it into activity guides for the school. Was an excuse to take over the big ass projector/presentation area of the library to play halo, and the school sponsored tournaments...school gave each official club 500 bux a year for functions plus whatever you could raise, we used it to put up prizes for tournys, like games/controllers/movies some other seniors and I made a website in our web design class and hosted it on the school servers (so you could always access it), it had a proxy program to allow you to bypass school proxies, it had near 100k hits after a year we uploaded a gameboy, snes, and sega emulator along with 200ish games to a teacher's file system (who we knew wouldnt use it, she was some old lady who couldnt tell a floppy drive from a screen), played mad pokemon and super mario and shit in classes with computers my best friends older brother (5 years older than us) told us about how he and some other friends staged a fight right before passing, everyone came out and watched. 4 other guys set off smoke/stink bombs, and released mad like feed mice(the kind for a pet snake) in the hall. by release i mean threw handfulls of rats into the crowd. girls were like stomping them out and screaming and shit. my prank was that we found the "key" thingy to take the post out of the center of the double doors in the school, and drove this beat ass integra into the senior courtyard, we found it abandoned in the ghetto cuz it was missing like 3 gears off the tranny, we drove it there using 1st and 5th, lol we set up a 10v10 full contact football game in the courtyard one day, which was sick we made the trees outfront into "snow dicks" like covered them with snow 10feet up and rolled snowballs up to the base so it looked like giant cocks all around the front, it was like the most talked about one in a while we convinced the freshmen its a tradition that on the last day before christmas break,in 6th period, everyone flips the lunch tables/desks when the bell rings, school gives them all detention and shit we sold pool passes on the first day of school, we dont have a pool...we said its on the 3rd floor, school is only 2 stories i miss highschool...there wasnt much going on besides parties and pranks and stupid shit 24/7

if youre on windows you can do ti for free... hook it up, DONT SYNC!, go to the ipod view in itunes, and check the "use as mass storage" box go to windows explorer and open the ipod drive view hidden files and folders *i think its like tools>folder options>view and you have to check a box click the ipod folder, then ipod_control, then music all those folders are the music on there, just renamed (id3 tags still intact though) its all random, i dont understand it, but here is what to do make a folder in your computer's music destination, open it, and copy paste all the folders from the ipod in there, and then drag and drop the folder you created into itunes (if you go to the list style library view you can drag the folder right in) it will recognize all the songs/titles/artists/etc if you're mad anal and want the files to have the right names and not the weird shit apple gives them, there is a program out there to automatically write filenames off of id3 tags, i think its called "the godfather' or something (free!)-http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Audio/Tag-Editors/The-GodFather.shtml
