ya i mean it was a short run on the amps 3 years max. the first ones had a flaw that caused them to catch on fire and they were at the time pretty dang expensive. -

desirable is going to be an opinion. They type RF was made to be the tier above power. Supposed to be very high end and they were very expensive. There were amps subs and accessories. With that being said the first series of amps were flawed so even after fixing the flaw with the a and c series amps they weren't huge sellers. Subs were very popular though My avatar is a rendition of one of the type rf logos -
Second Skin Application

acetone works good too. i always go over it with a wet rag first go get as much nasty off as possible. then go over it with the acetone on a diff rag and do a 3rd run with a fresh wet rag -

personally i used the latex expanding foam as there was no way for it to over expand. It doesnt harden as crazy as the original great stuff but it did the job well and didnt have to worry about anything breaking -

if you are facing foward you should seal it off. otherwise you will be loosing alot of bass trust me. but sealing it off completely is a bitch -

If your trunk is going to be "sealed" meaning box firing forward with an airtight cover then you will want to seal all those random holes. If the bass isnt going to be sealed off then theres not much point in sealing it. I mean you might make your rear speakers sound slightly better but probably marginally noticable -
How much deadener?
emperorjj1 replied to AASMDBASS's topic in Second Skin Sound Deadening and Automotive Insulation!
if the metal is flexing which it is something like second skin damplifier pro is the way to go. With any sorta mat sound dampener either you are just adding weight which indeed lowers the resonant frequency reducing some of the noise you hear or with a CLD such as SS Damp pro you actually reduce vibrations (as well as the additional weight if you want to think of it like that) -
IMO using expanding foam in areas like the trunk loud (added weight/mass) and to the roof support braces/beams can effectively stop rattles/flex with the use of less deadener. right in certain situations it provides a physical barrier preventing one piece of metal hitting the other reducing that metal on metal noise but otherwise is a pretty poor vibration dampener.
-
if you have any more specific questions ill try my best to help. its sorta hard to explain sometimes oh and i forgot to say the reason why you dont see people with less then 100% coverage is because the only people taking pictures of sound dampening generally have big sub builds and the bigger the system the more dampening "wanted" (not needed)
-
the damp pro damp and sludge all effectively do the same thing... reducing vibrations mainly meant for metal. the foam (overkill, overkill pro) is meant to reduce airborne noise. how effective they are at doing so is debatable but when used with the luxury liner (or buying the lux liner pro) That product is great at blocking exterior noise from entering the cabin. With lux liner pro or the overkill attached to the lux liner you need as much coverage as possible. putting a small square in the middle of a door does nothing at blocking noise. as far as amount you need that all depends on how much you are applying. no one can really decide how much you need because the largest factor are the vehicle itself (not necessarily size either) and how good of an install you do. With vibration dampeners the effectiveness is all exponential. You can do wonders with a very small amount correctly placed. You also have to remember your system is creating a shit ton of pressure in the cab. silencing that pressure is possible but making it dissapear completely is no easy task. On my old car i went balls to the wall crazy and with the system full tilt 147db i could shut the door and barely hear music playing much less any bass from 20ft away. mind you i spent at least 3500 on second skin alone
-
first off highly doubtful you will gain 5db from deadener and if thats your main goal you will need to apply some and test apply more and test ect around the entire car and hope for the best If you are just going to deaden so it sounds better and hopefully gains db then i would look at 25-50% of damplifier or damp pro all around the car

they generally put them up on holidays. maybe they will do a valantines day one? lol just thought about it i could use some for the new car -
ya i know what you mean. thats where all that started. Plus the 2 15s played so low and flexed the whole car so much... for the longest time the only rattle was the shield on the bottom of the gas tank (car was lowered so at some point it scraped enough to get loose or something idk) but eventually it just went away. Sucks i dont have her anymore but i could play it full tilt and shut the door and you honestly couldnt tell there was a massive system in there.
