Spring Sound Off, Hammond Indiana, USACI 1x show/MECA
tommyk90 replied to Slapuhho's topic in Competitors Corner
Bump! Show is this sunday! Come out and see some loud cars! FYI, don't let the potential rain scare you off, all metering is done inside! -
What show are you going to? Usually you will just register at the show.

Tommy K's new desktop setup
tommyk90 replied to tommyk90's topic in Computer Talk - News, technology, advice
Already have a dvd burner, mouse, keyboard, and monitor. A couple others have recommended the G.Skill as well. I'll look into that. How does the higher cache help performance? -
Tommy K's new desktop setup
tommyk90 replied to tommyk90's topic in Computer Talk - News, technology, advice
I'm not looking for some high end gaming machine. I'm a normal user who will occasionally watch stuff on my computer. The built in GPU (according to some reviews) works just fine for 720 and 1080p movies, which is all I'd ever use it for. If I end up hating the video quality, then sure I could upgrade that later. I doubt that'll be the case, but you never know. Basically anything is better than what I have now. I didn't really "cheap" out on anything, but I'm trying to do this on a decent budget. -
So my current desktop tower is 8 years old. Needless to say, it's a little tired. With the help of some buddies on a different forum, we pieced this setup together. Basically I'm looking for any opinions. This is my first computer build, so I'm pretty excited.

Guy is a straight dumbass. Nobody rates their subs for freaking free air. Plus, as stated, the idiot had only one coil hooked up. And, after all of his screw ups, it still took 4 minutes of pure abuse before the thing finally blew! If anything, I'd say that this video is a testament to how badass type-r's are.

Hopefully I'll do my head-to-head tests next week and see if it's worth having the fluke 337 or not. I could resell it and buy 2 more craftsmans for the same price!
-
I have one of the cheaper craftsmans as well if anyone wants to buy it! Haha.

I picked up an 800 amp, AC/DC, true RMS craftsman clamp meter off ebay for $61 shipped. Just like THIS one. It also has peak hold so you don't have to be holding the meter to get readings. Also, I snagged a fluke 337 off ebay as well (because i needed 2 clamp meters anyways), so when I get that one I'm gonna do a head-to-head comparison and see how accurate the craftsman one is. So far though, the craftsman has been doing very well. The only thing I can complain about is that it gives "ghost" readings, meaning it's reading current even though it's not clamped around anything. But since it's so low (in the 10-15 amp area) it doesn't really affect my readings. Just annoying.
