  1. As already stated, overclocking is safe as long as you take precautions. Think about running a 1ohm stable amp at 1/2 or even 1/4 ohm. You should take precautions such as beefing up your electrical system. Same applies for PC Overclocking. Make sure you have a good / stable power supply to start with. Even if you aren't bumping up voltages, you want a stable source of power. Ram speed and timings are 2 things to look at when shopping as well. I have had very good luck with Geil and G-Skill brands (even their cheaper lines overclock well). Do some research on the processor before you buy one. The same intel processor can overclock like crap or you can get an extra ghz or more out of it, it all depends on the s-spec of the chip. You can find these at http://processorfinder.intel.com . Look on the overclocking forums and you will find users posting results with the different spec's they have tried and you will find out which ones overclock the best. Same goes for motherboards, you will see users posting which motherboards and chipsets they have had better luck with, even specific bios versionsl The more homework you do up front, the better luck you will have with your results. Funny thing is that you could end up spending no more money on the good parts than you would have buying the not so good parts just by doing some research up front.
  2. The enclosure for your 12 could be tuned closer to the resonant freq of your vehicle which would make it more efficient.
  3. I don't tweet, I don't MySpace and I don't FaceBook. I stick to SMD and some other forums like Maxima.org, Fiberglassforums, the12volt.com and another car audio forum.
  4. Ok, cool. I'll keep the regular ones I still have (new ones) for the trunk and I'll get some Stainless ones and stainless lock washers for the front battery. Thanks for the quick reply. I still have time to fire off and order to McMaster.com hehehehe
  5. Sorry to bring back on old thread, but I have a question about the Cap Screws you used. I noticed they are Black Oxide coated, but are they steel or stainless steel? I used Black Oxide coated steel under the hood and there is some surface rust starting. I thinking I might need to get the stainless ones.
  6. I stumbled upon that by accident one day, forgot to put the boots on first. My lugs were still hot enough that I was able to wiggle and twist the boots on fairly easily, much easier than putting them on first and fighting to slide them up the insulation. Now I just do that.
  7. I put run flats on. They aren't as expensive as they used to be.
  8. Hopefully you won't need it, but thats good info to have just in case !! If I was able to help you out with anything, thats small payback for all the info and advice I've received here.
  9. Steve, I found this on the12volt. Its a Techtip document from DEI about a 530T Heavy Window Modification. Hope this helps !! http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/file.asp?ID=709 Edit: Direct link doesn't work. Once you are on the installbay page just search on 530t and you will see the "DEI 530t Modification" link. If you don't have a login, let me know, I can email it to you, its only 90kb.
  10. Well that sucks, I hope you get that worked out. I'm liking the alarm setup you went with. I'm thinking about using the same setup in my car so I'll be paying attention to your window problem. On another note, I know what you mean about not having time to work on your project, with the 12 hour days I have since I started my new job, my build came to a screaching halt!! Best of luck with your build !!
  11. When you say bigger, do you mean wider or deeper? Those flares are wider than the flares on my 6" Aero's. Aero's are 9" on the outside diameter, his are 9.5"
  12. Those look very nice. If you don't mind me asking, how did you make the form for the flare?
  13. I hear ya on that !! My kids are like "we cleaned up our rooms!!" I go in there and there is still crap all over the place.
  14. I like to tap the holes so I can bolt right to the buss bars so I like the thicker stuff.
  15. Not sure how much a pillars cost, but before I did my kick pods, I bought some new ones for my 97 maxima from a Nissan dealer for $25 each. Not too bad since they are brand new. Now I can just throw those in when I get rid of the car.
  16. I was at Joanns buying some felt and there was a dude working the register. Piercings, tats, long hair, definitely seemed out of place working there. He noticed that I had a kick panel with me so I could match the color with the felt. When he rung me up, he kinda looked around then rung me up for about 20% what he shoulda charged me. I was like SWEET !! Guess he knew what the felt was for.
  17. In all my years I have not seen a form as stupid as that. They deserve to get an answer such as you being an Asian / Mexican or something like that, I'd have to screw with them just because they are dumb.
  18. Would you like a greasy greasy pork chop served up on a dirty ashtray?
