  1. Ok, so as i promised here is the feedback in regards to my recent sale i made with benz280se. I purchased a Stetsom 2K6D amplifier from him awhile back and i am very glad i got it from him. He was very fast with replying back to me with all of my questions and even posted a picture of the amp working just to assure me that the amp is in working condition. Even though he has a busy day he still found time to guide me in the right direction. His price for the amp was a very fair price considering the amplifiers power output and specs. He even shipped this to me extremely fast via usps. It was only shipped through priority mail but i got this in the mail after 3 days when i purchased it. He even gave me a tracking code so i knew when to expect the amp and even insured the amp without me telling him to do so!! What a very professional and experienced seller. I would be more than glad to refer anybody on SMD to benz280se if they are looking for any items that he may be selling at the time and answer anybodys questions regarding benz280se and how fair of a seller he is. Thank you for the great purchase benz280se!!!!
  2. Oh yea. I checked. Amd whoever installed his unit did a shitty ass job. The brain is right under his center console in plain sight and the wires are very easily accessable. I can't trace the switch anywhere

Hello all, so my co-worker asked that i take a look at his viper 160xv remote start/car alarm system to see why that when he locks and unlocks his doors that it does not honk his horn like it used to. I know that you can do so in programming mode but when viper says to turn the key and press the vallet button, there is no vallet button. His remote antenna only has the antenna itself, no buttons built into it nor is there an emergency disable switch. does anybody on here know how to get into programming mode for this system so i can re-enable his horn honk feature that he wants when he locks and unlocks his doors? Thanks again!!

  5. whats the big difference? i know spread spectrum is supposed to have better range but is it all that noticable? and im thinking of buying the viper from sonicelectronix.com. anybody else have anything they got from this site? it has some pretty damn good reviews and plus it would be cheaper for me to go that route instead of the compustar which i have had bad luck with using that brand with my parents vehicles.
  6. what does everybody think of me getting an Compustar RF-P2W9000-SS instead of the viper 5901 or 5902 unit? I really do like the viper unit but its a little out of my price range. I was quoted to have the compustar unit installed for $450 with a lifetime warranty on parts and labor, all the accessory hookups, and everything else. Unless anybody on here knows where i could get an viper 5901 or 5902 for a pretty good price let me know asap. im going to put this in the second i get it since its getting pretty cold where i live.
  7. damn, thats a nice price. is that also to get the 5902 installed? or how much would it be to just get the 5902 from you and have a local dealer install it for me? i dont have the balls to do a install for this because im pretty sure id screw something up and miswire it.

  10. Okay, so i have a 2004 GMC Envoy and i am on the market for a very good alarm system/remote start. I have absolutely no clue how to install one (nor do i want to take my chances of screwing up something to do it myself) so i will take it to a shop locally to get it installed. but i wanted to see what everybody on here has to say and suggest for me to buy. I would like to have a very good range for remote starting as well as paging my remote if the alarm is set-off, a window is broken, or anything like that. My neighbor has a omega alarm system and i had an omega remote start/keyless entry system and it worked pretty well but i only got about 250 feet which sucked. I would love to have about 500 feet, if not more for distance i can run my keyfob off of. I really want to have a keyfob where i can have a lcd screen (either a lcd with a color screen, or a generic black screen with a backlight) to show me the status of my vehicle, as well has have door lock/unlock and remote start buttons on it. My price range would ideally be around 300 to a max of 400, depending on its features and how much i hear people raving about it. But please get back to me with ANY and ALL systems that you may use, think are great to have, match what i am looking for, or anything in general and i will be more than grateful for it. As always, thanks in advance SMD members!!!
  11. ok, i was looking at this amp and im very impressed on the specs. im just wondering how this sounds as compared to an audioque 3500d.1 amp. im planning to get another kicker solox woofer for my truck but right now i only have a single solox dual 4 ohm sub (2500rms) and this would be perfect for it. but i also read that this amp is a current hog and i only have a single mechman alt with a xs power s3400 batt (1000 crank, 3000 max amps) and a xs power d3100 (1250 crank, 5000 max amps) do you think thats enough power? And whats the gauge input on the amp for the power wires as well as the speaker terminals? Do you have dimensions of the length and width? and just to make sure, the amp is selling for $360 and its fully working? Any and all assistance with this would be great.
  12. well as much as im terribly sorry for all the crap i started with you matt i got my new alt from you today for my envoy. lets hope that once my truck gets its small problems fixed that i can put it in and it will work fine. i dont think that this one will have damage unless ups dropped it from a second story window because its packed a lot more than the first one. but thank you so much for youre fast responses. you are still better than irragi and plus even tho my first one broke, im proud to say that it worked like a beast when it did work. lol. i didnt even have more than a half volt of voltage drop, and thats only on a single xs power s3400 batt. but keep up the great work matt im sure you will stay busy and in business for a long time!!
  13. it already did go well. its in my car right now (no i didnt take pics of it tho) but you owned it before me so im sure you know what it looks like. haha. now all i need is to get my mechman alt fixed, get xs power to make the hold down for my d3100 sometime this year hopefully, install the d3100 in my trunk after i get the hold down, get another amp for my woofer and use my current amp for the mids and highs. other than that im pretty damn near finished with it. i like where its at now.
  14. Ok, so i fell upon a posting on here where alphasig293 was selling his old equipment. I fell in love with his headunit he was selling, the alpine iva-w205. After i read up on all the things that it can do and looked over the manual on alpines site i decided that this is the replacement headunit i need to retire my old pioneer deh-p4100 headunit that i got for free. So i asked him a good amount of questions about it to see what it was coming with and all that and he was really fast to respond. only on the occasion would it take him 2 days to get to but he had a lot going on with taking care of his family. but none the less he came back and answered every question i had throughly and promptly. I paid him on paypal and then within a week i had the headunit in the mail via the post office. He packaged it like a pro in the box with all the accessories it came with. This unit performs and looks just like it was brand new. I would rate my buying experience with alphasig293 a 200% because of how he went above and beyond and even said that if i had any questions about the way to install the unit that his installer would be glad to help me out with it since he helped put the unit in his truck. With fast email replies, payment, shipping and everything else i am happy to say that i will be more than glad to buy from alphasig293 again in the future. Thanks for the great buying experience!!!!
  15. im sure he isnt at fault for it. i had a alt sent to me from mechman and after only 2 days of use the damn thing is broken. everybody knows its the bearing and believes that the box was dropped just the right way and caused it to fracture inside. you have to love how ups ships their stuff... tossing it around like a ball.

  18. thank you. i think of it as a very good review is deserved for those who sell items with the utmost respect, fast responses (which i can tolerate a few days to respond because people have a life other than to be on SMD 24/7 lol) and to sell high quality merchandise.
  19. Ok, so i bought a set of Kicker KS502 component speakers from TeejayBee on September 13th for $47 after shipping which is a damn good deal and i am totally satisfied with the sale from him. He shipped the speakers to me via ups ground on the 14th and i received them in the stock box that kicker provides you without any damages or problems. Opened the box and tested everything and for the speakers being used they sound just like brand new speakers. They sound, look, and perform like a dream. I would rate my shopping experience with TeejayBee a 10 out of 10. He answered every one of my stupid questions (because i am full of them) lol, and was fast to get the speakers shipped to me and the speakers, crossovers, and other hardware are in mint condition. I would be more than glad to buy from TeejayBee again in the future and would definitely recommend him to other friends of mine or other SMD members who are looking for things that he is selling at the time. Keep up the great work TJ, you exceeded my expectations with buying from you.
  20. ok but heres the thing, your alternator is extremely loud. i know that high output alts have a whining sound when they are working but this is so loud that it is grinding. i didn't get the chance today to take the belt off and look at the alternator to see if a bearing went on it but when its at idle and it IS charging, it is so damn loud that you can hear it inside the car and it sounds like my engine is a diesel truck. plus i also noticed that when you rev the engine up the squealing stops completely and you cannot hear the diesel engine sound of the alternator. if i get enough time today, ill take the alt out and have it tested but again, i have to fight with the weather for it. but this all happened after i did the big 3 which doesn't make any sense at all, i didnt touch the belt at all when i ran the wires, all i did was disconnect the battery while i ran the wires and hooked everything back up. it just doesnt make sense as to why all of a sudden that it will squeal a little bit and stop working at high rpm's. when i first put it in i revved the hell out of the engine all to 4000 rpm and it didnt slip, surge the voltage, or give me any problems and the alternator was totally quiet the entire time. all you could hear the first day i put it in was the fan around it running and the slight whine of it charging my system but i knew that all high powered alts do that but since i ran the 0 gauge for the big 3 its given me soo many problems.
  21. good call, yea thats what i was thinking. my friend said that most belt tensioners have an adjustment built on them where i can make the belt tighter or looser without taking anything off. but he didnt see that on my car. does anybody know if my 1998 oldsmobile 88 ls has this feature on the tensioner? Thanks
  22. i just had a fellow student in my class look at the belt tension and he thinks its way to loose so im going to get a smaller belt or see if i can adjust the tension on the tensioner.
  23. to add onto this... when the engine is at 2000 or more rpm while the engine is hot the belt starts to squeal and i cant pinpoint where its squealing at on the belt loom but it is a 40 inch belt and its very tight on my engine as well as the pulley. the lights in my car at 2k rpm will start to flicker a little bit and then as i give it more speed it will flicker even more severely and then at 2500 the battery voltage light comes on and my lights are very dim and the belt is squealing from 2500 rpm and above. if i drop the speed down below 2000 the belt squeals at random but the pulley does not move at all when it occurs and then the lights will brighten up and the voltage will be back where its supposed to charge at.
  24. ok, so i have a big problem. when my engine speed gets to 2000 and above the power instantly drops from charging at 14.2 volts (peak) and drops down to around 11 volts and then my low battery light illuminates on the dashboard. wtf is with that? i upgraded everything to 0 gauge in the engine to match the wire going to my amplifier and when i tested the alternator last night when i put it in it was hooked up with just the stock wires from GM. what can cause this? i did notice that the alternator is VERY VERY hot on the casing which is odd because even with no load it still gets hot fast. the voltage never exceeds 14.2 and when i crank my radio up to the max it only drops to 13.6 volts after i did the big 3. do you think that something could be broken on the alternator somehow? or is it something more severe again, from 2000 rpm and above the battery light comes on and i get 11 volts of power from 14.2. if i rev the engine higher it gets worse and the voltage at 4000 rpm gets to 10.4. but if i take my foot of the gas and let the engine slow back down to idle or 1000 or less, it will charge back up to 14.2 just fine. Please help me!!
  25. yes, i know it must be all 0 gauge throughout but i ran out of time yesterday to do it so i then just wrapped everything up and today im putting all the wires for the big three on the alt and batt and see how much that improves. but overall i am very very impressed with your alternator. you definitally sold me a great product.
