Hit black ice spot..
cc_audio replied to chapo123's topic in Off Topic - Random, Misc posts - the forum "Junk Drawer"
Haha, wrong! Unfortunately its in the south that black ice is a really big problem where temps still fall below freezing but there's more winter thunderstorms than snowstorms. People just don't know how to react the further south you go. 1) people in these areas aren't used to driving in harsh winter conditions and 2) they don't know who to call to fix it. The last two days here have been really bad for black ice as snow melts fast during the warm windy days than freezes rapidly on the road when temps plummets. Lucky for us towards the north the city has plow trucks ready to go, so after a nice black ice spin out you call the city and they'll bring a salt truck by almost immediately. I had to call twice last night, calling the city is common enough knowledge to the people in this area so as to prevent an hour or two of car pileups like you see in the vid. Its really not their fault, and I don't blame them. Notice its on an overpass as well? There is no warning to prepare you for black ice, shit is scary. -
Already tried ebay. They have the usual size grills out the ass, but none in 4". I'm afraid to try Rockford, I just know the price is going to be high. I will try them, but I just know someone has some 4" Fosgate grills laying around.

I need some odd things that aren't the easiest to find but I know someone has them laying around. I need some 4" Rockford Fosgate speaker grills, I know someone has some unused grills from an install, can be any year from any model. And I need the two piece screw cover gasket from a 12" Type R subwoofer, I'm willing to bet someone has a blown type R with a gasket to sell. Neither one of these things are worth much nor expensive to ship so send me a PM with how much you want for either one of these items. Thanks.

Whats the fuse rating on that amp so I can get an idea of actual power? Replied! Pm coming!

I don't know what this damn thing is worth, I just need a little working amp thats of high quality. Amp offers are still welcome, I'm deciding between a couple nice offers.

So I would need to buy just a VPA-B211A and a TME-M770? Will the TME-M770 mount in the dash like a traditional double din?
-
Whats the depth on that?

I don't have a clue what its worth blown. Idk enough to get me a nice 1500W amp, got an offer for me?

My second Powerbass XA-4000D is up for trade. The case is perfect, no scratched except for mounting feet. It has a blown FET, I received it in trade blown so I don't know how it went out, I'm just going to assume low voltage. The number for Autosound is 1-502-448-5606. Autosound is the only certified Powerbass repair company. Ask for Dave, he's the guy to talk to. Tell him what the amp is and what exactly is broken and he'll give you an estimate. I've worked with them before, they fixed my first Powerbass amp that FedEx molested for a really good price. Anyway, I'm stepping down from the big audio game for a while, I'm looking for a quality 1-1.5k amp. I'll pay shipping both ways, I'm just tired of it sitting around. With my first PB, it took all of a month to get it back and I just don't have the time for it, I don't see the point in me repairing this when the biggest sub that I have any more is a DC LVL 2. It wasn't hard to do, it just took long. Week for it to get there, two weeks for them to repair and then a week back to me. If you have some patience this is a big amp for cheap. PM me with what you have to offer. Thanks

I've got a motor with a shifted top plate, its a MA audio hard core (big mufugga!). I actually have two good ones (blown) too that need some drop in recones. I'll send you the motor and the 12" TI basket for a discount on two drop in recones. You can use the motor and basket I send you to mock them up. Email me if your interested Ken.

I think your due for a box build, which would be a great way to continue with your member build thread. I think now would be a great time to learn to use fiberglass, since you seem to like center consoles. There are a lot of great fiber glassing threads in this forum that I think you should start looking at. Nice truck too.

There's no such thing as a nice "cheap" double din, even my AVN 5435 was 5 bills used forever ago. I would be happy to find one less than 6-7 bills, head unit is the most important part of any stereo. I do know that they exist (atleast pioneer anyway), its the model numbers that elude me.
-
Well guys, haven't had a help me thread in a long time. I've spent the last three days trying to magically make my AVN 5435 fit into my 02 Bonneville. Despite having a dash big enough to feed a family of four on, there is NO room behind the head unit. Even after cutting most of the inside out, its just isn't going to happen. So, I guess thats a sign that I need a new one. I'd like to get away from a DD with an amplifier built in, mostly to minimize head unit depth but I always use a 4ch on my front stage anyway. So here's the list of requirements that I'm hoping someone will know of unit that will meet them. I have a separate NAV unit so I don't need NAV built in. Help me out! List of requirements- No internal amplifier 3 sets of outputs 4V minimum Some kind of aux input And has to play DVDs of course I'm poor right now so used is fine

Wifey's New Woofas!
cc_audio replied to Twistedchild420's topic in DC Sound Lab - Big Bass on ANOTHER LEVEL!
What woofers are those? The stickers say DC, but the basket spacers and full cap say differently. I wanna know exactly what I'm looking at here. EDIT: patience reveals all, LVL 2s eh? Love the dustcap! I had no idea it was an 8", looks like a beefy 10" in the pics. -

box design for my 5 sundown audio 8s

With an idea like this, you can't be afraid to do work and get creative. You should go buy a nice big roll of fiberglass matting and a gallon of resin. The only wood that should be used is the MDF for the five mounting rings and maybe some 2x2 to hold them in place. Cut some 1"x1" steel tubing to use as a spacer to raise that seat up that inch. I've done two extensive under seat enclosures like the one you want to do, I can talk you through what you have to do to use every bit of space your truck has to offer.
