  1. that is full gain. that is where you match your radios output voltage. the lower output from your radio, the higher you set the gain on the amp. do you know your radios pre out voltage?
  2. did you have the gain on 0 or did you have it turned to .2 volts?
  3. in that sense a hammer in your are should do more damage. all that force localized on one point vs the entire pressure of a woofer spread through the entire area of a box. as far as breakin the box apart...
  4. i have no problems so far, there are also 2 dowel rods behind where each woofer is. its only 1500 on 2 12s now though, soon to be 3000, then ill have to meter it.
  5. from and engineering stand point a 90 degree angle is not super strong. in a box where it is all in a cube it is strong though. and addin a flat piece on a flat piece just makes a little bit stiffer flat pic. cross bracing is alot stronger. i havent even used a double baffle yet because i feel the bracind i have is adequeate(sp). here is how i braced my last few boxes. engineering classes lead me too it. kinda a take off how I beams and T beams work and for fiberglassin. it just a better seal. wood glue and caulk do hold up good, but fiberglass will hold up and last longer. I throw a layer of 2 ounce glass on kerfs when i make them.
  6. i wouldnt trust someone that just "saw a guy" throwin tons of power too them, but their ratings even say 1500rms is and underrating, and its got a 4" coil. I'd think 2000 to 2500 is good each, but if youve got 2 thats 5000 watts. youll need a very good electrical system in the car to get near that power.
  7. did you just make up those numbers? area is a inches squared too even a 15 is about 121"^2 and 2 12's is more and more is louder. if you basing it on the same exact sub.
  8. i never even enter the codes. I like winnin the free food. but my brother won that pogo membership too
  9. warm is ok. the center is where the coil is. its just heating up and the heat is dissappating up through the cone. My audiopulse axis has an aluminum cone and it says it helps cool it. What sub and amp do you have?
  10. you type-oed in the explanation. 12"x12"x12" = 1728 in^3.
  11. he sold or is still tryin to sell it.
  12. that one was sold a while ago this one is still there http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...showtopic=54460
  13. did you even browse through the forsale section yet? there is a guy thats been tryin to sell one. less than 350 shipped too.
  14. i got AAA, but the first and only time i had to use it, it took 2 and a half hours for the tow truck to get to me, but my spare tire and jack just sits in my garage. i went about 2 years with in under a false floor where i couldnt get to it, when i redid some stuff i saw that i didnt even have a lug wrench... so i figured if i dont have the wrench theres no point of a tire. Ill eventurally keep it in the backseat, for long trips atleast.
  15. Im about to make some 6" flares for me, How this is the pipe your using, ive gotta get my mold made. I was going to make it out of jus some mdf with filler in it too, except ill have larger size disks at the bottom for less filler that ill have to use. did you use a heat gun or a torch?
  16. you need to know the fs and sd to make a proper tline. also you wont have a volume. just one continous line i think the sd of most 8's is 27 in^2
  17. how much power will the new z15s take
  18. second the darvex, super fast, but the sales tax takes away the meade discount, and still adds more. but im down in bryant. there are some ARSPL comps i go too around here. there should be another on in searcy within a month or so.
  19. If each sub is a dual .7 you can only wire the sub to .35 or 1.4. I wouldnt put the sub at .35 one a single sundown. Youd have to put either connect a single sub to a single amp at 1.4 ohms, or strap that amps together and series the subs together to get 2.8 ohms the the amps, each amp would see 1.4 ohms.
  20. Right after I just got those other amps. I get paid tomorrow, I need one of those b stock 125.2's
  21. I like to see a sub with a higher bl rating, sensitivity plays a role, but you gotta know how they are rating 1W/1M is an easy way to compare, but some use 2.83 volts, that changes with ohm load, i was looking at a memphis mojo 15 quad 1 ohm sub, it had a sensitivity of over 100, it was tested with 2.83 volts at .25 ohms, thats 32 watts!!! more moving mass will get louder, but it also takes more motor force to push it, so they usually have a lower sensitivity, but a higher rms. theres more, but ive probably already said other stuff wrong, so i wont go much further
  22. no argument, just say how it went, I know the amp is over rated, but i also said it was putting out a very clipped signal, and the subs didnt mind at all. they gave great numbers too, I would never use them, i run way bigger things, but ive had these, and there lower models rated at 150 rms(won them in a raffle) I put them on an alpine 5 channel, putting out 370 to the pair, they didnt pop either, your experiences are bad, mine are good, could be install related, could be where you bought it.
  23. Your must be settin the amps wrong then, I hooked up 2 of the kenwood 12s in my friends jimmy, ported box, on a hifonics zx1006, each sub is gettin 300 watts, did over a 140 at a comp a few weekends ago, the last month or so he switched from 2 volt pre out deck to a 4 volt pre out deck, hasnt hurt the subs any, we did fix the amp gain now but they still run and perform great for 100buck..
  24. haha, i just got done looking around for some.. Im gonna get some pvc and try to make my own with a mold and a heat gun, if that dont work out, ima have to drop some case at partsexpress, almost 40 each. oh well. at least ill have another reason to get 200 more tweeters with free shipping.
  25. never used infinities. had some boss speakers. sounded good, but didnt last but a month those kenwoods are good, i put some in a buddies car, ported with 600 watts, did a 140.somethin on the tl sonys are alright budget ones too, that was my second sub ever after a blew my pyle. It got pretty loud, but..ive moved on to better things. I wouldnt go with mtx like the other guys said, maybe its just the ones i heard, but it was like a stock radio almost. for a good budget stuff id go with. the walmart pioneers, sonys, kickers, not necessarily in that order, but i wouldnt put any of them in my car anymore. you could look in the forsale stuff on here to get way better subs, just a little used
