Need Help!
cqtama replied to shawnschuldt's topic in General Audio - Can't find a category for your question? Ask here.
Do you know how many volts your pre-amp out puts are? i believe the sony had like 4 volt out puts or something like that im not sure off hand but if the jvc is less it could effect the output of your amp. you may need to play with your gains a little. but i doubt thats it since you said its only the low notes.. i would say definietly an eq issue. EDIT: new Deck has 5 volt pre-outs definitely not the issue. yea im sticking with an eq problem -

well your head unit is not going change this problem. if you want to get rid of the rattle look into getting some sound deadener. second skin is a really good company for that and they are a partner on here. they are also very helpful and knowledgeable in this area. now if you want your "lows" to hit harder, again not so much a head unit issue. what are you box specs? ported or sealed? and whats it tuned to if its ported? thats what will effect that the most. EDIT: also what are your amp settings? (lpf, subsonic) -
thats awesome. i want one, much more effective than a finger in traffic

Headunit question?!
cqtama replied to fuggnore's topic in General Audio - Can't find a category for your question? Ask here.
yes your amp will have a high pass filter allowing you to filter out the bass frequencies you don't want from your door speakers. its the opposite of the low pass filter you use on your sub amp. then you can put your HU settings back to flat since you wont have to worry about the bass coming out of the doors. -
why do you want sound out of the car? do you drive around on your roof or sitting on your hood often?

so your saying you have 2 subs on the front of the box and one on each side right? they could be slightly out of phase. I've never like boxes like that. try that test i mentioned and see how it works out. it generally won't hurt anything if they're out of phase it just won't sound as clear or be as loud as it could be. if you can live with it it's fine -
New to this :P

more info on the setup would be helpful. what kind of box? but this ^ do they appear to be completely opposite of each other? an easy way to test if they actually are out of phase is to pan all of your music to either the right or left. then when you pan back to center it should be significantly louder. -
Check Out My first box.

call nathan at xs power. talk to him about batteries. you need a 2nd bat. he is very helpful and will take care of you. -
yea sounds like your protect circuit's just doing its job. I'm not sure what the temp is but at a certain temperature the amp will turn it self off to avoid damage. try leaving your backseats down to allow some more air to circulate back there
-
its gunna be tuff to find anything else that puts out that kind of power for that cheap unless you try and find something used. if you cant afford the crescendo or the AQ i would check out the SMD classifieds. plently of guys are getting rid of nice stuff there. But off the top of my head those 2 amps are the best bang for the buck. anything else that puts out that kind of power will be stupid expensive.
-
if moneys your issue i would definitely go AQ. puts out rated and there really efficient. its worth the money
-
they are not over rated they are very good amps. actually they kick ass. but if you can afford another $100 or so i would go crescendo. i have a 3kwp. thing puts out 3k easy, its a beast. only problem is i believe its on backorder right now.

Best craigslist post tonight...
cqtama replied to Alexdb7's topic in Off Topic - Random, Misc posts - the forum "Junk Drawer"
just another form of hustlin. in this economy you gotta get money how you can, hell if i could sell my used boxers for $20 a pop o would do it -
phase at 0, you dont need to use that unless one of your speakers is inverted bu the other isn't. and i would set all of the filters at the amp leave the HU filters alone

quick question about wiring...
cqtama replied to manofthehour's topic in Electrical-battery- Alternators- Wiring
what kinda amps are you running? i would do the big 3 in all 0 and run 0 from the front bat to the back, keep both batteries. may i ask why you went with optima? its a little late now but i woulda gone with xs power. alittle more pricey but totaly worth it
