  1. im going from cali to nebraska. wondering if anyone here is along I80 and wouldnt mind talking about giving me a place to spend the night. somewhere a couple hours west of salt lake city would be great but i could probably make it to salt lake in a day. just dont want to lol. dont know a date yet, just wanted to see if anyone would be open to it. figured it would save me some money and give me a chance to see and hear some new cars. cause after all, who wants to go sightseeing when i can give someone the chance to beat the crap out of my ear drums?
  2. the surround keeps the speaker linear. without it the sub can pivot and the voice coil will bang against the motor.
  3. i have done that before and it makes a horrible loud screech. made my gf run away from the car in terror. would never be described as "engine noise" i got one of these too. i felt pathetic for getting one but it did nothing bad. no decrease in SQ and it took the noise away. BCAE1.com has an explanation on how they work.
  4. ya ya, we all know after rise you wont get that power but he is comparing it to the ratings of the last amps. you cant measure wattage before you build the box people. sheesh lol edit - he is asking about the box, not what his amp will do. answer the question if you have input or leave him alone. no need to show off what you know and heckle him.
  5. i would. a smaller box is a good idea for more power but you dont want to go too small or they can rip apart. my 12"s are in a little under 4 cubes (1.9 each or something, i forget lol) and tuned to 36hz after F3. going to have a pair of crescendo 3ks at .5ohm in another week or 2 and i expect them to do just fine in that box. i havnt played with 15"s so i dont know exactly what they like but maybe you can get an idea from my example.
  6. you just keep studying him. maybe one day you will do something worth giving a crap about. ya, i fail to see any humor from you.
  7. use a DMM and test every fuse. this way you dont have to pull any of them. that or look at a honda civic forum and ask them what fuse it is.
  8. the cheapest rca's ive owned had the least amount of noise. each time i spend more on rca's i get a little more noise. grounding the RCAs only helps on a pioneer HU with a blown pico fuse.
  9. hey, you arnt olly lang. lol i would go with the 18"s. the 15"s would have more cone area but each sub gets half the power. its a close call either way but thats my opinion.
  10. oooooohhhh. good find then going over the RMS rating of a sub is a little tricky. it all depends on you. the more power you give it the louder it gets but the margin for error gets a lot smaller. so if you know what your doing you could probably put a 1000w amp to each sub. if you dont then you got a molten coil. so only give it as much power as you are comfortable with.
  11. have you opened one up? do you know the difference in components? ID is greatly known for its SQ and there is a difference. but the better question is, if you thought they were all the same why did you pay $400 for 600w???
  12. you will have to run at 2ohm so you will get a total of 800w. you would need 2ohm coils to get 1ohm at the amp and 600w. that wouldnt be 2ohm buddy.
  13. would you consider two 12"s for $500? im not selling, i just think it might be better to spend more to get one good pair rather than 4 cheapies. if you would like to look at options for a pair ill suggest FI Q, DC level 3, audioque, RE SX. double check the prices of them, maybe you could get a model 1 step higher on some of them. sorry i stopped looking at budget subs a while ago and forget what there is. ive heard the EFX sounds good for cheap. i think thats what its called lol.
  14. your just not loud enough to cause a problem. i have seen it happen a few times. i used to think that but the head judge of MECA here has 6x9"s in the front and they sound amazing. he swears by them and he knows a lot more about SQ than most people on here.
  15. the meter on the hu is probably wrong. to make sure, pull your hu out and measure the voltage with your dmm. if it still says 3v less on the dmm then run a dedicated power and ground to it.
  16. so you think my tweeter should play 35hz better than my sub? or did you just word that wrong? also, i dont think speakers put out power.
  17. oh ya, ive seen bad amps cause tons of noise and ive seen little differences in direct swaps of HUs and amps. try it, see what happens.
  18. hahaha, ya thats my opinion of audiopipe too.
  19. well i would recommend the sundown saz-1500. you may be able to get a refurbished one on db-r.com or they sell used for $300. they will easily take more abuse than the other mentioned amps. audiopipe cant run below 1ohm (never owned one but i cringe every time some one recommends them, i dont believe they are not crap yet) audioque cant run below .5 sundown works at .25ohm not that any of them should be ran under 1ohm it just shows you what amp is built tougher. the sundown amps are also known to do a few hundred watts more than rated.
  20. what is your budget?
