  1. sealed will be easier and smaller, ported will be bigger and louder. its all up to you. what do you want to know?
  2. its your own music unless you do SQ. when you go to do your burp keep both windows up and the door closed. you have to be outside the car so a remote is useful. burp the car and after 2-3 seconds slowly open the door. maybe its louder 2" open or maybe its all the way open. if you open the door slowly itll be able to read all the points between closed and wide open. if the numbers dont go up, your louder sealed. get it?
  3. there is nothing wrong with plywood. it all depends on the quality that you get. if you get the super cheap crap, well ya, itll be a problem. you could get 1/2" apple ply and that would be stronger and much lighter than 3/4" birch or mdf but itll cost you about $100 a sheet. when looking at plywood, the more layers the better. mdf is used because of its density. it wont vibrate as much as a lighter wood. when people glass the inside of the box they just use the resin, no mat. the reason is because wood breaths and the resin seals all the little microscopic holes. its good to do on any box but it will change the sound a little. just like each type of wood will have its own sound. so its all up to you on the amount you want to spend on wood.
  4. haha the hot blond definitely wants to fuck that kid. but some one needs to slap the chick in front of her for looking bored during that. that kid has some talent. too bad hes going to hit puberty and lose that voice lol.
  5. wow, a lot of the other mods just delete anything they dont personally like, even if everyone else is pleasantly enjoying it. i already liked you ed but you just got even more respect from me.
  6. ive heard a lot of people say the seat belt is a good place to ground. only argument against it i have heard is that it might be unsafe because... well... your loosening the bolt to a safety device lol. i think we should be worried about saltine thinking so much about riding a dick when he gets drunk.
  7. they arnt as loud. thats a problem for some people. yes, a lot of 12"s are good in 1cube sealed.
  8. good shit. cant wait to see what you do to it next.
  9. sub up port back works well. it all depends on the car. but dont use that particle board shit. use MDF. and please tell me you have glue on that box.
  10. its a fucking blanket. if you havnt figured out how to use one you should take a left turn on the middle of a bridge. bet you wont figure out why by the time you hit bottom.
  11. if the cone says "SX" its made overseas, if it just says "RE" its made in america
  12. insurance should pay for that recone and a little extra.
  13. just because the power rating is the same doesnt mean they go together. do NOT mix different subs in the same box and/or on the same amp. the subs "fight" eachother and rob output. .5" mdf is too thin, get .75" next time and any time you have a surface that big you need to brace it. we dont know anything about your box to know if you can port it. maybe its already too small. in fact, ill bet money it is too small for four 15"s ported in that trunk. i think this while thing needs to go back to the drawing board man.
  14. lol was that really worth posting? go play some checkers or something man lol.
  15. mechman sells them and has prices listed.
  16. sure its legal, if it does 4000w for 1 second before the amp catches fire, it still did 4000w.
  17. so you know, even with the charger hooked up you can still have voltage drop. if the system draws more current than the charger can supply then its only a mater of time before the batteries drain. as they lose power your voltage drops. at this point your charger is just trying to charge the batteries but it cant because the system is taking all its capacity. also note that each battery takes 10amps. so it you add 5 batteries and get a 60amp charger you only have 10amps left over for your system. the rest of the draw comes straight from the batts... hope that makes sense lol.
  18. i have to disagree. i know a few guys with 1 18" or 2 15"s doing 145-147db and they can do hairtricks. on music i could do 149.5ish and i couldnt get a hairtrick. i burped a 150.4 but never did a tone with a girl in the window.
  19. yes, every time you discharge a battery it gets weaker. so if they get drained on a daily basis you will have dead batteries pretty soon. but i think you mean this just for shows and that will work fine. install a voltage meter and have fun.
  20. ya you can do that. i see it fairly often at comps. its just a bit of a pain to find power everywhere you go and have to worry about getting a charge instead of just turning the car on. i mostly see this with 16v systems. big bank of 16v batts and they only get charged off the charger. however these are strictly comp cars and dont see daily use.
  21. there is something wrong with small ports, its called port noise. also if the port is too small then it isnt venting like it should. more pressure will build inside the box and i believe will cause a lot of impedance rise. (dont know though, never tested) ya, around 35hz is pretty normal tuning. the box i made tuned to 35hz sounded great.
  22. but he doesnt have 2 batts. for some strange reason he just moved the front battery to the trunk.
