  1. if you dont calculate for them then they are taking up airspace and they make the tuning higher. but if you account for the loss in airspace, no. they dont change tuning.
  2. probably. did you look? did you try to figure it out?
  3. ya the search feature here is horrible. the last line of amps were zenon boards (same as sundown) so if you want that amp... a used sundown 3k is easy to find, brand new crescendo amps are easy to buy... well, once they get back in stock lol. the new DC amps will be different. all i have really heard is that its one of the many projects DC is working on. obviously Rusty knows his shit and whatever build house he picks will be a good one.
  4. sounds like fun, but its a little too far for me lol.
  5. dont worry, its just resin from a new woofer. you didnt blow it (anyone watch mythbusters? lol) how do you KNOW you were not clipping at that time?
  6. well this isnt useful for those setups but i would put 2 monster 18"s in an suv, load it down with a ton of damplifier pro until it didnt flex anymore. that would be my show car for a sound deadening company lol. Welcome Kanefields! i chose second skin for the unique spectrum sludge and Ant got me hooked by doing his give-a-ways. i won a door pack and put it to great use. now whenever i need damplifier i order SS.
  7. lol dont feel bad man. fritos has probably built more boxes than anyone in this thread. he really knows what he is doing.
  8. your work looks great as always... his amp looks like italian food.
  9. thats right essay lol. just wait until i start drifting the thing... in the snow.
  10. this is a cleanable filter too boss. never have to replace it really? i didnt know it did that. could i just unplug the ecu? the wire on the battery is a bitch to get to.
  11. the K&N was $70, this one was $25 and i dont have a job... ya, it was an easy choice lol. ive talked to a few car guys and reviews on this filter and they all tell me its basically the same shit. and no one makes an intake for my car. how do you even know what filter i got to say its not as good?
  12. flush with the hood? hmm... i didnt think about that lol. maybe ill try to make some cardboard models and see if i can do that. im going to roll each edge to give some strength and take away sharp edges. probably spray paint it in a rubber coating to help it resist heat a little better. ya... when i see a puddle, i drive though it. it would probably scare you how happy i get when i go through a big puddle... i laugh like a crazy person lol
  13. ah, gotcha. the hole in the fender actually goes up... not exactly sure where it lets air in though. there isnt much room down low. it would almost sit against the engine. and i go though puddles and shit every chance i get. i really dont want to shoot water are the filter. i actually had the filter down there at one point but put it back to stock once i drove into the snow... and i found out the filter had a 4"+ gash in it. i guess i dont know how picky about the heat i need to be. i just figured the heat shield would be enough since k&n does that.
  14. you can just use the dowels from outside wall to port wall or do a piece if allthread through the entire thing.
  15. i have no idea what an SRI is. the holes in that area dont lead back to the engine, they go down to an opening under the bumper so it should be a lot of outside air getting in... at least the way i see it it is an 06 buick rendezvous. 3.5L v6. thanks for taking the time to help.
  16. maybe you need to be a little more blunt here. again, i dont know much about cars, you need to explain this shit. like i said i am going to make a heat shield. the filter is going where you see now, just a little closer to the fender once i find a 3.5" pipe. there are plenty of places for air to come in from the fender and under the car. might even make a funnel behind the bumper to shoot air at the filter.
  17. ok, so that short air intake thread got me thinking and i went out and did this today. bolted my ECU to the wall next to the filter. i need a couple inches of pipe to get the filter where i want it. im going to try to make a heat shield out of sheet metal. it will cover the top of this cubby hole as well. hopefully keep as much water off the ECU as possible. what do you guys think? i know it wont do a lot for HP but i just hated the tiny inlet the air box had. i really dont know much about cars so i just wanted to make sure this plan wasnt stupid or had a chance of damaging something.
  18. yes, the X65 is only the 6.5" speaker, no tweeter or crossover. if you dont clip them, you can easily give them 200w. i have heard these and i know they kick ass. i cant comment on the others you have in mind because i havent heard them. correction, i have heard the pioneer prs720. they sound great but the ID beats them in midbass.
  19. haha, i didnt know it had that much bass to it. im going to have to go find that song now.
  20. are you guys forgetting the part where he said he took the car's battery out of the car, hooked up the amp to it, and it still didnt work? rules out the fuse IMO. not that it shouldnt still be checked.
  21. why would it not power your amp unless it was dead? use a DMM and check the voltage of your car while its off. keep looking at the voltage as you start the car to watch how low the voltage gets. then look at the charging voltage (car on). tell us what you find.
  22. with a $150 budget you dont want to look at amps. having a factory amp doesnt help you at all for this. you will need to get a low output converter, RCAs, power and ground wire. thats going to be half the budget rite there. here are a couple speakers you can look at. they shouldnt be too bad. http://www.woofersetc.com/p6725/DSH216--MB-Quart-65"-2Way-Discus-Component-System.htm http://www.woofersetc.com/p9053/S693--Powerbass-6"-x-9"-210W-3Way-Coaxial-Speakers.htm
  23. i understand, but you called it bassrace so i just wanted to fuck with you.
