  1. You probably all have tinnitus. No, I know what you mean. Sometimes I can hear LCD screens too, like our tv and my computer monitor.
  2. Get a type R used and build a ported box for it. You can get them for $100 or less used. a 2 cu.ft. box tuned to 33hz would be good for it.
  3. I hate people who don't try to learn at least something about what they are going to buy. There's no reason someone shouldn't learn the basics about subs and amps before buying something. They are just asking to get screwed over.
  4. What that curve means is that it would take a 120db bass signal to do the same damage to our ears as a 90db 1khz tone or 80db 3-4khz tone. Human ears are less sensitive at picking up bass then the rest of the spectrum apart from extreme highs (20khz+)
  5. http://blogs.msdn.com/audiofool/archive/20...nds-better.aspx http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fletcher-Munson_curves
  6. Do you need surround sound or is it just for parties really? This could work, and then get a small mixer so you can hook up ipods/computers to play music.
  7. The sears near me had some pretty cool hoodies for sale. There were some LL Cool J hoodies that I thought were pretty cool. Not too ghetto lookin either.
  8. I had those hifonics both running off a pioneer deck and off my kicker 4 channel. I thought they were good at the time. Off the deck, they didn't really sound all that clear. They sounded much better off my amp. Before I got new comps though, I noticed the hifonic's woofers made a horrible screech sound around 3000hz-ish where the crossover frequency was. I don't know if it was the speaker or the crossover, but it was obnoxious. Because of that, I wouldn't recommend getting them.
  9. Here's the setup I have. I'm real happy with it. Not too expensive either. Only thing I would change might be the graphics card. I'd probably get that ATi card newls posted. Mobo- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813131366 CPU- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16819103652 PSU- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16817371015 Ram- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820227297 HD- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16822136283 DVD burner- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16827151192 Bluray reader- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16827106325 And this is the GPU I have. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814150357 But that is a Nvidia gpu and the motherboard is an ATi based mobo. There are some slight problems with that, like a few of the mobo's graphics control programs for ATi don't work with the Nvidia. But that's minor, and don't affect the function of the graphics card or mobo... All that is like $800 with shipping though. You could probably do without the bluray (-80) and you probably could find some cheaper ram (-20-40ish) That's about how much it all cost me when I bought it over the summer too. Prices really haven;t changed much...
  10. I got this case. It's pretty nice. Does what it needs to. No problems, except maybe not enough external 3.5" bays.
  11. I didn't know ground pounder was like an official title or status. The more I think about it, the more I think it's kind of gay that you need to ask whether you "qualify" or argue what the terms are to qualify, because really, it means nothing. And really, how many kids have 8" woofers? They don't even make many 8" woofers and hardly ever sell them in stores.
  12. I didn't know there were qualifications for what a ground pounder is.... I thought it was a car with decently loud subs, just like a term. Like some people call em bass cars, or my dad calls em ghetto boxes, i thought ground pounder was just another term like that...
  13. the Fi Q's or JL w6's will probably sound best sq wise, but I'd rather have 2 BTL's.
  14. I built my first computer over the summer. I got a triple core AMD (2.8ghz, but can be easily overclocked to around 3.2ghz or more), asus mobo, Nvidia GTS250 gpu, and 4gb ddr3 memory, as well as a 640gb caviar black hd. It's pretty fast for me, works great. It ended up costing like $1000, and that includes a nice 23in acer monitor and a blu-ray reader. I would say make sure you get a healthy amount of memory and a quick hd. Also, if you get a nice gpu, it'll help with some of the load on the cpu for image and video processing, so you'll prolly want a decent one of those too. What I did to figure out the components to get was go to a computer forum and pose this same question. They very quickly gave me like 4 or 5 different set ups that would work great. I would suggest trying that, since there will be many more people there that could help you out or you could just read threads that other people have posted asking the same question. Not saying there aren't people here who don't know...
  15. Probably, but I'm pretty tired right now haha I'll try to do it tomorrow.
  16. Check woofersetc or sonicelectronix. I've only used one pair of comps in that price range (actually, they were like $60), which are Hifonics comps. I hated them. Don't get them. They are obnoxious and screechy. I do like my Image Dynamics, but the cheapest set on woofersetc is $180. They sound great though.
  17. Sonicelectronix is good. I've bought some speakers, an amp and headunit from them. They have pretty good prices. Also check out woofersetc.com I've bought two sets of speakers from them as well, and no problems at all.
  18. Wow, so at 14v and with 4awg power wire, would this amp be putting out more power then my SAZ-1000D? I know it's rated higher, but I know sundown are underrated.
  19. I would get rid of the best in class, move the url to the back, but get rid of the www. and maybe take off the word team. The amp and sub together seems like too much. I like just the sub or just the amp.
  20. I don't think so, but I haven't tried all the colors. I like a blue screen with orange accents.
  21. I just got the excelon 993, which I think is the same as the 693 but with bluetooth. I really like it. I haven't used the bluetooth capability yet, but I would still pay what I paid for mine even if it didn't have bluetooth. Sounds good. Just kind of tough to get the time alignment perfect. I would assume it's that way with any of them though.
