To be honest I think dc told a small lie about how far the xls can move. When my 15 was on about 3500 it moved a good 2.5-3 inches. And it was completely fine

I don't think you understand. If you have one repaired its basically a different sub so you won't have a matching set, hence why ed recommended doing both not just one
