I'll be running a positive from the battery bank to the input of a switch, from the output of the switch to the positive and remote of the meter, and the negative of the meter to a ground right by the meter. Same wiring as my last volt meter, but with one less negative on the VM-1.

To me, the numbers don't lie and they say the D3100 is a better choice. But I don't know, maybe there's something more to it, being that it is a bigger battery? If there's more to it than just the numbers, then I'd like to know.
