  1. Coil positioning is still the same bro. Once you set first spider hieght then you worry about bolting it to the frame. The only reason they use the bolt down rings is thier cheap glue doesnt hold a candle to our American glue.
  2. Jake that is what they do best! Its a monster low low low groundpounding BEAST!
  3. I haven't bought the amp yet.....thats the point of this thread. I already have the sub, I'm selling my current amp in order to buy one that is both more efficient and powerful......thats why I want to know! And Cody....no....I didn't know that, but I'm a knowledge junkie so thanks for layin' that down!! In that case you need a DC 1.2k That'll do quite fine as long as you follow DC enclosure recomendations. If you need any help with box, setup etc... Im always down to help!
  4. First step.... Measure coil and find the center and mark it. Second step Measure thickness of top plate, cut that in half and add it to the first line. Third step Align second mark to top of plate. This is how to center a coil properly. With shims in place spin your spider to seat at spider landing. Pull all of assembly back out and carefully add a bead of ca glue around bottom of spider at coil. Be sure not to move the spider or it will end up off setting coil and it will ruub.
  5. Ray the subs are dual 1. More than likely they will be wired series parallel for a .5ohm load ea amp.
  6. Not only will parameters change from one subs suspension to another it will also change from one coil to another. If theres any question on whether your sub will take your amp.... get the m2 lvl 3. Its rms rating is 1k. End of concerns lol
  7. Jason with DbDrag Finals coming up I dont see the current stock of lvl 5's lasting through March. If by chance we are out of them when you are ready I will sell you one of my lvl 5 motors and build ya what you need.
  8. I was planning on leaving early wed afternoon but if theres a Basshead get together Im in!!
  9. The Psychos will be reunited. Erie is flying in from Texas and Bill is flying in from Buffalo. Cant wait to see my good friends once again!!
  10. Be sure to stop me if you see me. I'll be wearing my DC Jacket or the Granny T.
  11. Woooot! Look at the Bossman having fun!! Now that is a Hairtrick!!!
  12. Power is no problem. 4.5cu for a single 15 is too big. rms rating is well over 2k so you will have room to grow
  13. Thought has crossed my mind. If I was to do that I'd ship the subs to save wieght lol
  14. lol I've always had loud systems. I was more than happy with my GP even fully loaded with 800+ lbs of equipment. I basically had to give that car to my wife so she had something to drive kids to school, shopping etc... So now I want to be just as happy with my crx as I was with my GP. Improve handling, More HP, Nice paint ( probably a wrap job in the future), re do interior, roll down the road gleeming at 110mph, shaking windows as I pass ya! Once that is accomplished I will be a very happy man.
  15. I think while I'm at it I'm gonna put a skunk2 throttle body, skunk2 coil over strut assembly's, new radiator and a pillar gauges.
  16. MMMMM M2's I'll be going the route of m2 lvl 5's when they are ready.... should be building proto's soon for testing.
  17. You just have to be smart about what your doing. If you smell coil turn it down. I never burned a coil with those amps. I folded a cone or 2 and broke many surrounds but the coil was always fine.
  18. Looks like you asked the right place. I have extensive time with the stetsom 14k2d's 18v 2ohm amps. I ran mine at .5 daily with a reactive load of 1.6ohm making just over 9k on burps. Biggest issue with that amp is they like to go up in flames upon turn on. You should have no problem at 1ohm daily although realistically you can only run 3500 rms musically to your lvl 5's with a very very clean signal.
  19. Will, I picked up motor Thursday. It's now at the shop in lake county getting prepped. It's getting a gsr intake and exhaust manifold, new throttle body, fuel rail and injectors , new clutch assembly, flywheel etc... Should be ready in 2 weeks or so.
  20. Eric good advice. I don't foresee a turbo anytime in the near future. Lol
