  1. yay! i use mine too
  2. he's like a legit scammer. someone might see the cd player like 'ahh sweet i can buy a faceplate cheap' and buy the radio. then they see the only option to buy the face plate is so expensive, they gotta do it or they're with a useless radio (just a possible scenario) i think it's retarded. same with that sub auction with $10 cheaper price, but $10 more in shipping. how they gonna legitimately justify that extra shipping for the same thing? stupid
  3. damn! that's looks intimidating as all hell. glad to see it updated
  4. i hope to help with one of those 15's *cough cough* ;) *cough*
  5. this is nice! i wanna see some pics of them badly
  6. i think 143 is good as well. and for a first run at that. nice job
  7. downgrading makes me sad but a nice clean fiberglass install makes me happy looks excellent!
  8. that is a HELL of a lot of port area. too much
  9. i dont even do a sweep. i start at 5 hz higher than tuning, and play one for a couple seconds, then move up. about 10 o more times, then he'll tell me where i peak. may not be the best...but if i tune at 35 hz, i dont see myself peaking under 40 in my car. also, i'll bring my scope and meters and tools tomorrow to set your gains. if we get there early enough we can tweak some shits on your shits. i wouldnt turn it up to the point of clipping, but get it to where it should be. 49 hz sounds realistic. i think explorers are in the high 40's to low 50's range. at least a guy at a shop told me that they like the 50's one time i think any commercially available cd is considered music. tho...i think one or more of bass mechaniks cd's are not allowed, but dont quote me on that. and x2 on asking questions. dont go first, see how things play out. ask a few people questions on how to do it. i'm sure greg will give you a quick rundown on things.
  10. you're not cool till you're 10k deep :D
  11. in the right install, almost any sub can shine. look at big oki. he has a crazy nice install and pulls hair tricks like their nothing with a bunch of sony subs. and technically...any car will act as a big bandpass box unless speakers are facing outside...like lots of brazilian installs lol
  12. i use the one i made i compared it to the spreadsheet i was using and it's very accurate. it's also been compared to another spreadsheet, as well as compared on pen and paper by some others to double/triple check it. it works, but so far only for an ABC box. i have yet to program a way to do angles in boxes. the link is in my sig if you wanna try it out made from visual basic, so it's windows based only, sorry if you're using another OS
  13. 6th orders look to be a lil more picky on frequencies from the info i've been gathering. they peak pretty high. at least the ones i've seen people build have. i'm going to look more into 4th orders. probably fit my space better
  14. i'm researching this now, as i'm trying to learn how to design a 4th or 6th order myself and see if i can fit it behind my back seats. from what i understand, 6th order bandpasses have a narrow bandwidth of frequencies they play. as do 4th orders, unless designed spot on. as do most bandpasses. tho i believe team maxxonics is (or was) using a 6th order in bassrace. i read a thread on termpro about it but i think it was an old one. so basically from the looks of it, it's good for SPL, but maybe not so good for music. but that's what i'm tryin to read up on still. 4th order may be a better road to travel for a musical box. but i'd still like to try a 6th order for music myself as well but i doubt i'll have the room for that. i have almost 24 cubes to work with tho so we'll see
  15. i like those kicks. and the truck. looks so nice. i love full size trucks
  16. lol this thread should be closed for now. he hasnt said anything since october of 07. as long as he's busy that is
  17. nice and simple i like the way you mounted the amps, one over the other
  18. lol i love how everyone throws in their ideas and tips like you dont already know what you're doin (some ideas are more valid than others tho)
  19. yeah one box will be fine. i meant to say before and forgot, you *may* get some port noise with that port. the port ratio should be 1:7 (or is it 1:8? i forget exactly lol). either way, you're port area is about 1:10. if you can, i'd make it a lil wider, and not as tall on the box, but maintain the same port area. and either way you build it, make sure there's enough distance from the baffle to the port so that the subs wont hit the port when it bends when they're mounted
  20. ^^^ be careful with the gain knob. then you could turn the volume knob up all you want and not hurt anything.
  21. also what you want to keep in mind is, the more port area you have, the longer the port will need to be to get the same desired tuning of the smaller port. and in doing this, can take up lots of box volume. could be good, could be bad.
