    After closer inspection, Step3n1 is right. Almost. The leads are sewn into the spider, so very hard to see on this little guy. Got up close today, just double checking stuff, and ALL the leads are frayed and brownish in color. Only thing I can think is crossover, had it set around 100, and thought it was around 70. I don't know if its what caused it, but I did play it pretty damn hard, and in a big box.

    Yes, easily. But build the box right, don't clip them, and ask about direct leads when you order.

    I'm gonna send it in, so Rusty can determine what caused the failure. It was probably the box being too big. We'll see. I got no use for it for midbass, using the AA 7 inchers for that. My wife is mad though because we were gonna put it in her car when I got the 15's.

    The lowest ohm setting, and no reading from either coil when I push the cone. The box is a bit big, but I only had 350 going to it. Follow dealer recommendations on box spec

    OK, so I have the sub out and its not good. Neither coil even gives a reading. Let me get some pics.

    Double and triple checked. Thats the screwy thing. I should point out the sub cut out on the way home from dinner. No smell, no smoke, cool dustcap. Then I check and get that reading. I'm gonna go pull the sub real quick.

    If on the ohm setting on the DMM, I touch the probe to the OUTSIDE speaker terminals on the box, is that number the ohm load the amp is seeing? I have my dual 2 wired to 4 ohms, but when I touch the terminals it reads 1.5. Is it possible I blew a coil?

    Its for a friends build, and he wants stock replacements that will "drop right in". Picked up some Polk Audio sets. Whatever, its his car. Mods can lock this, I guess.

    Looking to get a pair of 5.25" 2or3-way speakers and a pair of 3.5" 2-way speakers. Would like them to be the same brand and be 45-60 RMS. They'll probably be on an RF Prime 300.4.

    Well the 8 is starting to loosen up and get a little louder. My camera doesn't pick it up very well, but the door is flexing pretty good for a single 8. The inner door panel flex's alot, too, but the sun killed that shot. I'm a little scurred lol, if one 8 can move the door, whats 3 15 gonna do to meh car??

    I had my xl 12 on 2500 daily and got looser over time, not blow-on-it soft though. If you give it more power, shrink the box maybe? And like others have said, check the spiders. How long have you had it anyway?
