  1. I've looking into those, but they're a out of my budget.
  2. I'm trying to come up with a summer project. I drive a small SUV, but it's our family vehicle so I can't use the entire hatch area. I want to stay right around 1 cube, give or take a little. What I'm looking at is either a single 10" or 12" in a small sealed box, two 8's that take a small ported box, two 10's in a small sealed box or three 8's sealed. I have a Rockford Fosgate 500.1 (birth sheet says it did 521@2 ohms), but I'm not opposed to upgrading to a larger amp in the future. Budget for the subs is around $200, again give or take. The only thing I'm worried about, at least with doing the two 8's or 10's, or the trio of 8's, is that I'd lose output compared to my current setup (ported 10" SSA Dcon). Any thoughts?
  3. A lot of departments have explorer programs that introduce high school kids to firefighting. Basically, they are the "go-fers" at a fire. Help carry equipment and such. They don't get to go into a working fire (structure fires anyway), but sometimes get to participate in the salvage and overhaul.
  4. Nice. I've been a volunteer for almost 10 years and I'll never forget my first fire. It was a grass fire that we put out with our feet. LOL. And as far as screwing up, I drove the tanker to a grass fire the other day and went in the completely wrong direction.
  5. ZOMG!! That had me rolling. "Everybody's Russian." Bwahahaha!!
  6. Not really "low end", but check out the SSA Dcon. IMO they are one of, if not the best, value for the money.
  7. I think he means it's up to the cop whether or not he/she's going to give you a ticket or arrest you. Case in point: My brother-in-law put his vehicle in the ditch a few weeks ago. The cop showed up and asked him if he had been drinking. He told him yes and the cop told him, that since he'd been honest with him, if he could find someone to pull the vehicle out and take him home he wouldn't arrest him. Didn't even give him a sobriety test. Speaking of bullshit that cops do, back in January my wife got pulled over. The cop claimed she was doing 90 in a 55, and gave her a $350 ticket. My cousin is a county deputy and even he didn't believe it. He said that this particular cop is an asshole, and one time gave my cousin's fiance a ticket for 6 miles over the speed limit.
  8. Congrats. Glad mother and baby are doing well. I've got a 4 year old named Emily.
  9. I'm seriously looking at the E8's for this summer. I've been searching everywhere but can't really find many reviews on them. I plan on running three of them sealed for space reasons. Anyone here have experience with them?
  10. practically this. the shock value you get from people from having less woofer and being louder is priceless. This. I'd rather have a couple of 8's or 10's and have people think I've got 15's than a wall of low end subs, but that's just me. Edit: It would be kind of fun though to have something with a bunch of cheaper equipment just to see what it could do.
  11. That's awesome. I love watching Top Chef. Some of the things the chefs do is amazing.
  12. Nothing like the feeling of having your own hard earned money (thought I wouldn't complain if I won the lottery ). I've wanted to get Lasik for years. Hopefully I'll do it some day. I hate wearing contacts and loathe wearing glasses.
  13. I don't have any advice legally for you, but I will say this. Take care of your back! I've been dealing with back issues for over 10 years now (old trampoline injury, too stubborn to go to the doctor). Found out about a year and a half ago that I've got a fractured vertebrae and two significantly bulgings discs. Some days it doesn't bother me much and others I walk around all day hunched over.
  14. Hope everything turns out OK. I had a checkup with my cardiologist today. I was born with a coarctation of the aorta and a bicuspid aortic valve, so I know all too well what it's like.
