The new one gives you the 3.4, or the old one did? What model did you go with? -
I need a video card (help)

What I'm referring to is the lack of customer service from that company. Plus the huge rate of DOA cards they happen to make... I always recommend XFX and EVGA to people...bulletproof warranties and good shit overall. XFX stepped into the ATi market now, so now people can get ther HD4xxx and HD5xxx cards with no worries. ASUS and Sapphire are also good for the ATi folks. -
I could always post up (or PM) a list of part suggestions if you wanted.

An Alienware is a dressed up Dell with some blue LEDs and maybe a liquid cooling system thrown in. It's still made of the same cheap internals at the end of the day. Coming from a computer hardware engineering major, just telling you guys I know a thing or two. If you're looking to only spend somewhere between 500 and 1000, I'd suggest building it. There are so many tutorials out there...plus for that money you'd be able to get FAR better components if you bought them all and built it up. My $.02

Sarcastic comment or no?

I would stay away from them. I've heard a lot of times that their systems have sub par build quality, or simply aren't shipped in adequate packaging. If you want a custom computer from a reputable company, I'd look at some of the models from Digital Storm or Velocity Micro. A quick google search will get you to their homepages of course.

I need a video card (help)

I would still not for the life of me buy anything from Sparkle. And the 9600GT is by no means a power-hungry card... -

Yes, the black PCI x16 slot is what you want to be dealing with. As far as the video cards themselves, you could go with either a regular x16 or x16 2.0 one, you won't notice the difference. (they will both work in a PCI x16 slot.) If HD YouTube is the most demanding task you have, I recommend the following: Gigabyte 9600GT 512MB If you need help installing anything, shoot me a PM. -
So years ago I filmed a video of me and my cousin putting ~120W through a 3" "woofer" we took out of a 2.1 PC speaker set. I decided to put it on YouTube afterward, and it's gotten something like 79,000 views. I signed in to my account, and was met with a notification that YouTube wants me to be a partner, so they place ads on that video (or others) and I earn some fraction of a cent per view from then on. If anyone can further explain this process to me, it'd be great! Like the title says, I'm really not sure what to expect. name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>"> name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="350">DISCLAIMER: I sound young as hell in most of my videos...I'm in college now, those were made a while back when I had the time for that sh*t

I've been wondering myself actually about the differences between each kind of competition. I know there's the IASCA, USACI, bassrace, and for some reason I'm blanking on the rest. (long day, don't hate) What I'm basically asking is can someone make a sticky listing out all the 'leagues' of competitions and describe each one so that those of us who have never competed or are looking to compete can see what each one entails? Like the basic rules, popularity, cost, etc. of each one. Just a suggestion.

I like the use of the word 'compacitor.' -
I would PM Forevrbumpn about it...he builds custom subs and I'm sure he'll have something that fits what you need.

Custom PCI-E Cable
S15_Silvia replied to Demo402's topic in Computer Talk - News, technology, advice
Jeebus. Before you try that, at least please let me know what power supply you have. What you're planning is a temporary fix at best...usually those adapters have two molex connectors on them so that the graphics card can draw from separate +12V rails on the power supply. -
Laptop Kinda Slowing Down, Help?
S15_Silvia replied to brsteinbach's topic in Computer Talk - News, technology, advice
Go to Start-->Run, and type "%temp%" without the quotes and hit enter. This opens up the Temporary Files folder, which should be emptied from time to time. Do a quick Ctrl+A to select everything, and hit the delete (not backspace) key to get rid of it all. I've noticed speed gains on some machines with this. -
what size power supply for.....
S15_Silvia replied to pimpedout97x's topic in Computer Talk - News, technology, advice
The short answer is yes, that PSU will run those things, but not well. I'd say you should look for a PSU with ~600W and 16A or more on each of the +12V rails...look at some PSUs on Newegg.com and check the specs. I recommend something by Seasonic, PC Power & Cooling, Enermax, OCZ, Silverstone, Corsair, Antec, or Mushkin. -
Im a underground computer geek......
S15_Silvia replied to meade916's topic in Computer Talk - News, technology, advice
I definitely am a computer geek. I've built several higher-end PCs for my family and friends...I try to only use the better stuff like Lian Li and Silverstone cases, Gigabyte and ASUS boards, OCZ and Corsair memory, EVGA and XFX graphics cards...etc. Aspiring to be a computer hardware engineer once I'm out of school....we'll see how it goes. -
There are currently two for sale in the For Sale section...each needs a re-cone but I'm sure the prices would be decent.
