baaudio replied to meade916's topic in Vehicles In Motion
im still amazed how low that thing is with just adding coilovers. it looks so sick man -
my neighbor just bought the boss 302 laguna seca. is ugly as hell and cost a grip. something like $68000
-
is that a fair price?

the woofer is the only thing really worth a shit. and you can buy them new for less than $150 iirc. id offer him about $250 for all of that to be honest -
Well I'm gonna have to wait for this. Ran over some nails that fell off a construction truck and need new tires now. I was gonna be getting them soon but wanted the amp first. I'm thinking the bc3500 will be my route though! Maybe a pair......

im trying to stick with a new amp atm guys. but if that changes ill keep you in mind. im holding out for an rf 2500 bd-cp but if for some reason it falls thru i need a badass backup amp
-
thats what im talking about. isnt twisted a rep too?
-
ya i forgot about them lol. thanks for the reminder

Basically I'm looking for a good 2000-3000 rms amp for about $500 shipped. I know aq2200 or dc 2. But what other options are out there? I'd prefer new also. Give me some suggestions guys

atm im hanging on to it. but if that changes ill post it in the for sale section

heres the latest jl audio 12 w7 prototype lol. i think they got an idea from somewhere else.... okay so no this isnt a jl woofer. its an old jl 12 w7 basket and cone i have laying around and two memphis cm motors stacked. it sure looks badass though. hopefully forevrbumpn sees this and gets an idea for me
-
if you have the money for the 13w7 and the jl 1000/1 right now then youre in a great spot. but dont spend it on that stuff, jl audio makes great stuff but its just too damn expensive. if their stuff was retail what it is at cost then it would seem reasonable. theres lots of high quality products out there and lots of guys on here can give great opinions and share lots of knowledge

I think a buddy of mine has a dual 2 12" solo x recone. It's the old gray cone though
-
Jl audio has a diagram on this. That's how i initially wired mine. But Sierra is correct. Series each woofer than parallel all remaining coils

just get this deck. its similar function to what you have, it is last years model but no biggie honestly, it has 3 sets of 4v preouts also. plus usb on the front and allows you full ipod control through the deck. this is even simpler then what everyone else suggests because the harness is exactly the same, the only difference may be that this deck has steering wheel controls input. so unplug old deck and plug in this deck and presto your done, you shouldnt even have to swap the cage if its cage mounted.

i would take the 90 bend out of the port unless you need it for fitment in the truck. looks like you should be able to have a straight port though -
The helmet should be fine. The biggest difference is that the nose doesn't have as much strength as a full face street helmet. Basically don't smash face first into the black top. Also I read a pretty interesting article once about how snell ratings can actually be a bad thing. I know many of you may argue this and if I find the article I'll link it. But the organization who wrote the article said that for snell approval the helmet gets slammed into the ground at some ridiculous amount of force before the helmet fails. But at that force your brain would still be damaged because of how hard it slams into your skull. Thus causing more damage than a more forgiving helmet. I swore by snell approval before I read that, now I am somewhat leery about them. A helmet is not worth cheaping out on though. The best deal you will find is wait til end of riding season and buy leftovers on sale. I scored a $350 helmet for $75 this way

ive always thought passive radiators were primarily for home theater use because the enclosure could be much smaller then the equivalently tuned ported enclosure. im not sure how this would work in a car. and generally you want twice the cone area for the passive radiator vs the subwoofer. so you would be looking at 2 pr's per sub.
