  1. Been reading a lot lately on the pro audio scene and noticing many happy customers. So i want to try them for an upcoming build but im a little stuck on crossovers for them. The amp i have does not have a bandpass crossover setting where you can both HPF and LPF a speaker, so i can only high pass them at my target of 150hz. But after reading around i guess many people also suggest low passing them at around 3khz or so for the best of clarity and loudness. I want these to sound their very best and most importantly very loud to keep up with some hard bass. So what can i do? Will they sound good enough just high passing them or what crossovers do selenium owners usually use to low pass them at the 3 or so khz?Link to them?
  2. I agree. The subs are rated at 600 rms for a reason even if thats conservative im a true daily driver where once i get in my vehicle, i never stop bumping until i get to my destination so you want to be careful with the power. The real question is just how louder to the ear would the sa get giving it 1000-1500rms true watts compared to say giving them 800rms true watts? Some subs ive read dont even get louder with more power once they have reached the peak of their power handling.
  3. I would but i rather take that 30 and just put it for a better higher pair but its looking like i might have to try em on my own.
  4. Ill also will stop arguing with this wanna be know it all as well. Acting like many dudes that like ap for what it is are somehow not top guys. Shows where he thinks of many people who are just trying to bump and not spend thousands lol.
  5. Ha haa and your reapeating what i said when i disagreed with them getting "smarter" and going korean when they are still going to offer their other non korean stuff like i said. Im pretty sure they make more on the cheaper stuff since they will sell a lot more of it in that budget market than the more expensive korean made one which contains a smaller market of people who buy expensive ass amps.
  6. Im sure they just wanted to expand what they offer unless, which they wouldnt, they cut out all of their lower lines and go strictly korean. Plus im sure profit margins are way higher with the cheaper stuff than it is with the korean stuff. They like many of the brands you support are in it to make money not to get "smart" so if they see korean stuff as a money making thing they expanded to that as well as reaching other markets with their lower end stuff that many people are satisfied with. Just avoid stuff like pyle, boss, nitro, almani stuff and ap, hifonics,mb quart stuff will satisfy many people in price/performance.
  7. Ive always tested all of my equiment objectively and also show others just so i can make sure they hear what i hear or to give me their thoughts. At first, i too would correlate budget with poor quality that is why i went with an audioque 1200d after i had my hifonics 1608d thinking, "on the forum they say its better and louder and cleaner, so i cant lose." But when i recieved it and unhooked my hifonics and played this aq 1200 i was kinda like well it sounds just as loud and the bass is not any different and as i tested more and more amps such as the ap1500, i concluded that not all "cheap" amps are bad and some are actually well made. Audiopipe ended up getting good reviews around this forum like the ap3000d and their 4 channel amps as well so im not alone. I only and will continue will back this amp up because i at least have messed around with more of their other lines against supposed better sound and power(jl,aq, which i do like) and will recommend it as i know for people who end up buying it will like it and at 150 is not a big risk. Audiopipe has their korean line now just to offer a more higher end flagship type model but you are wrong if you think they are admitting to supposedly having bad equipment when many other brands have their lower mid and higher lines, its normal.
  8. You can keep going on about the shitty parts but mines been going for 3 going to 4 with no problems. Sq on an amp unless your talking about 800 and up amps that are specially designed for sq is not going to be very noticeable my swap tests proven that for me. Why don't you research more about amp boards and youll see many brands you nut hug share the same boards with others. Like my bro said and hes an old school competitor, there only so many boards and many companies choose the same board. Power is power. Box and install is way more important. The audioque had and you mention look into how that board looks to the hifonics 2610d. I know your the type that doesnt see but your opinions and other high post count people but research more about amps in the same or close price range you'll be surprised.
  9. Read man ap1000 swap to constant jl 500 rms. Just because jl is expensive does not mean the bass is now high sq. Its all In the box way more than the power source.
  10. Direct swap of jl 500 to ap three people noticed it too. Only was swapping to decide to sell expensive jl and stay with the ap. Not much different so sold jl. Simple.
  11. Many many people including me have had good success running the ap1500 line. Had mines going on 3 years and I previously had the aq1200 and this ap was no different in how it sounded. Get or keep asking around you'll like it. P.s. I've also had the ap1000 for a girls build I did and it still performed well compared that to her jl 5001 she had and sound to both of us was around the same with the ap being slightly louder since voltage drop.
  12. I tried sending twisted a pm and yeah ive ran some cheap tweets before off the headunit and sounded pretty bad with crossovers. So im trying to see if these being that they are a cheap price, would give me better performance.
  13. Yeah i always thought they were in the 42 plus range as well. But also dont they have like ridiculously low inches of port per? Anyone know what those groundshaker boxes are tuned to? They sell a lot here in L.A but i wouldnt touch them they seem all wrong lol.
  14. Go for around 1.75 to 2 cubes each and tune at 33-35 hz depending on what music you like. If you like lots of variety of music tune to 35 hz, if its chopped low hz music tune way lower. visit the sundown forum on this site and ask around.
  15. Going with a 1500 rms amp or even going to a 4 cubes net box will both give you a significant change in loudness so try the cheaper route first which is box then amp.
  16. Yeah make another one around 16 inches of port per tuned around 32-35hz if you listen to all kinds of music no lower.
  17. For twisted, Looking to get some tweeters for a friend who just wants to upgrade his systems highs a little and i was looking at these. They will be run off headunit power do you recommend them off little power? do you know of a better pair of tweeters in this price range?
  18. Wow i think these are going up i paid like 135 shipped but look on ebay as well. http://www.amazon.com/JBL-P660C-Series-Component-Speakers/dp/B001GKAIFU
  19. Did an install with the infinity 3.5 kappas in a scion dash and my friend loved how they sounded and to me were loud and clear as well. Amp was giving it like 35rms.
  20. Try craiglisting this i have had better success selling local jl audio than online.
  21. How much port area was your 3.5 box. I really doubt you will get a significantly different sound tuning from 35 to 32 if anything youll hit a little lower but on music you will probably slightly hit less harder on the upper bass hz. What power was your amp putting at 2 ohm?
  22. Truth is there is a whole lot of people content with their ap even if you dont want to believe it theres count less of good stories on them by people who do know what they are doing. Bottom line the amp is priced great and puts out power and in a direct comparison both me and my brother who is from the old ppi/hifonics days could not tell a difference and if i were lying why did i sell my aq on smd as soon as i heard my ap? so believe what you want. This ap will satisfy anybody looking at the 1000-1500 range easily and at a not break the bank price.
