  1. no, the point in the price comparison was because for the 03 diesel f350 270amp alt through mechman his price was $399. but the 300amp through DC the customer was quoted $800. when i stated the mechman price slim thought that if the price was indeed $399 why would DC price theirs at $800? now, it is not my business and i believe any business who has a strong product should be able to quote the price they believe it is worth. the comparison was only to show that just because a product is comparable with another company does not mean the prices will be as well. another comparison, per boilermakers post about rush, i emailed and spoke with the company. $815 for a triple alternator bracket. and their bracket is fugly. DC has a triple alt bracket quoted to me for $389. this wasnt a which is better comparison, merely a cost comparison showing that companies can DEFINITELY have varying prices for similar products.
  2. oh no buddy, i read everything. but youre going to tell me for an extra 25 amps at idle you would pay another $150? that doesnt make ANY sense. and when pertaining to rpm i think you are VERY confused about alternator RPM and engine RPM. two very different things friend. $800 for one alternator max output being roughly 300amps. the 270 that was linked to provided 25 more amps at idle. for the same $800 you could have a total of 540 amps. im not the smartest...but am i missing something? 300 > 540? yes, i have done iraggi, DC, and now mechman. DC was superior but without waiting and at half the cost i have three VERY reliable and performance driven alternators. but now i believe youre getting off subject. you discussed superiority when the issue was COST. i agree, DC is a BA company. but if you have a budget i can not for the life of me see spending $800 on one alternator when a comparable alternator is half the cost. you said it in the last statement of your post, so im really not too sure why the reply. money is an issue for the OP. he doesnt want to spend $2400 for dual alts and a bracket.
  3. slim....you do make a very logical point, but before you speak do a little research. DC 270amp alternator Mechman 270amp alternator this is in a regular GM vehicle, and already a $150 difference in price. the prices each company sets is fine with me, but instead of one 300 amp alternator from DC, for the price he can get dual 270 amp alternators.
  4. actually...i just checked mechman. i know that the list doesnt show the 2004 but if memory serves correctly for the alternator there is no difference between the years on the 10th generation f350. so im going to assume the same price as for the 03, $399.
  5. Yeah, I'm not going to lie, CL can be a cesspool, but it is possible to find good deals in your area. It's more than just finding hookers....err...I mean "companions" lol. Sometimes a full master reset can work wonders. What's your budget? I have a g1, my touch, sidekick, and some Samsung slider I no longer use
  6. Very true! But that's why i said more often than not. But I was refering mostly to 300+ amp alternators. I was looking into some BEASTLY alternator but the idle output was sad....lol Of course though, DC and mechman are just ahead of the game! Lol
  7. Ha ha ha, stiff electrical huh? Lol OP, what I would suggest is a dual 270 alt setup with four d3100s. You could probably run 2 daily but if you really want to slam on the system is get 4. Of course triple 270 alts wouldn't hurt! Lol. What did you find out from mechman
  8. Why would the type of sub require stiffer electrical? Of course the BTL has a higher rms but that does not mean he needs to run it at higher power. And a new alternator for 2000 isn't required in my opinion. To the OP, BTLs are beasts for sure but if you can do two 18s do it. More cone area and closer to your budget.
  9. well...define cleaner...as in music sounded better because there was less rattle? lol.
  10. true, no need to shoot down the question at all, lol. but some people like NEO have also been in the game for a very long time and im sure theyve seen this question (not verbatum) many times. like fink said, you would definitely need the electrical to back up the kind of power to ensure you are sending the cleanest amount of power only. also on top of the box being built to spec, i would reccomend going with the MIN requirements for the box for volume. actually....a WHOLE lot of power and a WHOLE lot of air id like to see!!! lol
  11. and just as an FYI more often than not the higher the peak max output the lower the idle output.
  12. only some of the nicest things can be said of matt with mechman. as for your price, price is very decent for a very capable alternator. but to get a better idea of how that price fares against competitors just go look on their sites and check for yourself. i myself have swapped out my iraggi alts for triple mechman 270amp alternators. ordered the last two last friday received a week later. for just $200 more than what i spent on ONE iraggi alt that took longer to get all the way here in alaska. all three hooked up and just awesome. i can also say this. matt will always respond, answer all questions, provide factual knowledge (NOT SAYING OTHERS DO NOT) which make making an informed decision much easier. most of the time his products are in stock so theres no issues with waiting on specific parts. and he does this without belittling other little companies. mechman is awesome.
  13. have you tried reflashing? not to mention....craigslist? lol.
  14. Well, you can run them but that definitely won't be stable at full tilt for extended periods of time. I'm running 12000 watts rms with triple mechman 270amp alternators and six xs power d3100s.
  15. i would suggest 35% for the front. another thing to check is your local state DMV codes for legal light transference. nothing like getting pulled over and getting ticketed for tint 3 times a week, lol
  16. i think hes asking for a designer to draw up the specs for the box. not someone to actually build the box.
  17. I tried finding a video clip to post but could not =(
  18. *deep black voice* hey peter, been awhile
  19. Guess I'm sucking balls then because that shit was just not funny.
  20. Lol, well thank you. Maybe its because I already face palmer myself to sleep last night. Guy wanted some serious amp power for his 2 xplode 12s but didn't want to spend more than $80....$80? So I offered an older alpine 400 watt amp and he looked at me just had this look....he said....his subs will blow the amp out! They do 1200 watts each, no way a 400 watt amp could handle the power. O_O But apparently the OP knows now that the subs can't overpower the amp, lol
  21. Would be just fine. The amp pushes the sub, not the other way around, lol
