  1. That one video you made is Justins is one I've watched a few times, that intro is great On a related note I got banned from Adsense back in like 01' so I can't sign up even though I get those emails
  2. It's the fan for the CPU Believe me I have spare hard drives, also there are 2 separate raid 5 volumes on this server. It will let me know when a drive fails and it will rebuild the array. I think I typed the space wrong after I reread the post. After the raid 5 arrays I have 14.2TB of usable space. The last server was a power hog. This one was built to conserve energy. It even has active power management to help with the energy savings. **edit** all the fans are huge and over sized in this build. I did that to keep the fan speed down and keep the noise down to a minimum. Which controller is it? Is it a CPU hog (I assume it doesn't have on board processing)? I've been wanting to consolidate my boxes to VMs to save energy as well and I dig that case as well as the one in my workstation now (Cosmos). I find it funny that we are finally starting to get to a place where people saying a number like 10 or 20 automatically gets me thinking TB rather than GB especially since I've been around PCs when you automatically assume MB Are computers your hobby or are you old enough to be doing it as a living already or? Just curious
  3. Nice man! One word to the wise though, if you don't have any spare drives think about getting one or two because if they every just up and pull the plug on them (afaik that series has no EOL guarantee) you're screwed (say that since 15.5 says you're using all the drives w/ no spare). Outside of that it's bad ass! Not sure how in the hell you are saving $40 a month though... I have 4 computers that run 24x7x365 and I wouldn't save that much It's the fan for the CPU
  4. Aww man Oh well shit happens bro, they will sort you right out though as you know I've dealt with them enough (fixing other peoples screw-ups)...
  5. They have cameras they can stick in the box without tearing it apart. Problem is if you run sealed then they would have to take out a sub. One thing to keep in mind is that they can literally do whatever they want. Being from Detroit (if you didn't know we have a tunnel and a bridge to Windsor which is slammed) I've heard a ton of stories, it just comes down to luck, just be sure to be as nice and compliant as possible. I've always found it ridiculous that people smuggle drugs across the boarder when you can get in a boat and zip across the river or either lake without seeing a sole.
  6. I might be game as well bro... Takes me 15 to get to Sarasota so Daytona I'm guessing 13.
  7. This is marine related I'll be honest, I've never once thought about swapping out any of the batteries in my boat (bank of 4) for AGM. The main reason being that most of us isolate a battery when we are sitting around out in a cove or whatever partying it up (running TV, stereo, fridge, sat receiver, gps, ship to shore, etc) and run the batteries down to nothing on a regular basis. They are however always on a charger when docked (obviously I would need to switch chargers as well). Is this the kind of abuse you have designed them to take? I know doing this isn't technicall "good" for them, but that is what you do on a boat (most marine batteries are made with that in mind) and the current batts on the boat are around 6 years old and are still fine (they will need to be replaced soon I'm sure). I just want to be sure that this is really what you have designed them for. Also I would assume that while you don't want these under a hood, them being a foot away from 2 350's that are water cooled isn't an issue (the batts are near the motor(s) on most boats).
  8. the bass videos are about to be taken, like 10 minutes haha. and yes, they told me 180 was really the max, but hey, im stubborn LOL and thought i could have a buddy make up an idler pulley tensioner and blah blah, didnt work out. plus, for under $50, its all gm parts and the best and most cost effective way to DIY. thats why i say plan ahead, if you have a v-belt system on a pre 84 gm, order your alt with the 5 groove pulley and save the cost of buying the additional pulley as well That's great, I was worried they didn't say anything I was going to post something in your thread, but I was way too late on that. My DC 280 is ran on a V-Belt... Wow... Shit man on my old alt (it was a 140) I had serious slip so I can only imagine on yours
  9. Great write up man! I had thought the most you could do on a v was like 140-160 so didn't someone there say something about it before you bought it (they know this)? I've known should I ever want to move the system in my old 61 Deville (390) I would have to swap the pulley, but that isn't something that comes in a manual. On a side note, now that you have the charging system sorted where in the FAWK are the bass videos?
  10. You have an odd number so if it's 2ohms you did something wrong. I would guess you broke them out into 2 sets each set at 8ohm then those together for 4ohm and then those four against the one that was left for 2ohm final. It should be wired to .8
  11. Psh no problem man, asking is better than guessing as guessing can be expensive
  12. When you strap 2 amps you make one big one (not figuratively, literally). Any time you connect speakers to strapped amps the load halves. If you hook up an 8ohm load it's now 4ohm, if you hook up 4ohm it's now 2ohm, if you hookup 2ohm it's now 1 ohm, if you hook up 1ohm it's now .5ohm, and so on. Look at your amp's manual it will show you a wiring diagram how to strap them as well as where the subs go. Generally (not always) you run positive sub to the master and negative sub to the slave, but again your amps might be different so read the manual.
  13. If your amp is say 1200 watts at 1ohm then when you strap them (master/slave) you need to provide a 2ohm load to the pair.
  14. As far as the killing your battery thing goes... That is in regards to you running an AGM in the back and your stock up front. Regular old batteries sit around 12.4-12.6 volts as to where AGMs sit around 12.9+ which means that your AGM will be constantly trying to equal out the other battery, but it can't. Unless you are going over 2kw you can just use one good battery up front.
  15. If a real server only consisted of PC parts then you would be right, but you conveniently ignore the portions that make a server a server. On a related note the software is hardly a "non-issue". You don't like HP, leave it at that. I'm just saying that HP's history of manufacturing desktops and laptops is a lengthy one, and to cut that off is a bit much. Yes, servers and computing is higher, fine. But people still use and want desktops and laptops. Albeit, those that want to be a PC gamer just build their own towers, and people are moving to tablets. besides, the article says it's just a consideration at this point; no final decision has been made. The junk PC market is a new one and I'm not sure they can sell off one without the other. If they can find a way to do it I could see them dumping the consumer market in a second simply because it's a looser. In the business world a customer spends more on bundled software than the machine itself costs in many cases.
  16. Hopefully they get back to their roots and go business/ultra high end consumer only. Back in early 2k they made the mistake of getting into the "junk" computer business along with Dell, IBM, and the rest. I just find it ironic how many people here buy garbage computers and bitch about them yet they wouldn't be caught dead running an amp from the Radio Shack or Best Buy bargain bins... I would assume over the coming years we will see all the big guys phase out the junk lines and get back to making quality. Sure it's cool to be able to run out and get a laptop for $600, but you get what you pay for. I honestly don't even look at anything south of $1000 (unless it's a referb or clearance or something).
  17. Still didn't detect any when you turned up the gain? Make sure you didn't turn subsonic way up rather than down/off.
  18. Can the 12k's take 15.9 or do you run the risk of damage at 15.9? Just curious because as a word of warning some newer GM vehicles will start as high as 15.9. Mine starts between 15.7-15.9 on a regular basis. It will charge at 15v. As far as why to do 14 over 16 goes... Two reasons (that I can think of ATM)... 1) Many newer vehicles will run fine switched over to 14 which means you don't need to blow money on step downs. 2) Battery capacity is lower the higher voltage you go (in the same foot print).
  19. I would just PM Chris as one of the comments is... BigPimpin Approved. DaTwinkie405 1 month ago Obviously someone might know the song, but unless you get that version, well, you know...
  20. Thread jack, Get with me soon , i wanna setup a last "before da white chit comes" meet for all people in Michigan! I'm down bro, my weekends are hit I think until after the holiday. Actually next weekend might be free I would have to check with the boss.
  21. It's fake... There are 2 shots they keep repeating. Easiest spot to see it is on the back of the net to the left. Look at the net on the bottom of the thing. It moved in 2 distinct patterns. Balls also only hit in 2 different locations on the net although they do mix it up. Not to mention look who posted the video and what bats they are using...
  22. It doesn't hurt because he plays shit that's so damn low (loved it at Slamology). If he was peaking mid 40hz people would be diving out the back... Then again, unloading it wouldn't be good either.
  23. Happy as hell except I had a few too many beers last night and did my sub amp at 0 on accident so I have to correct that today I still have to get off my lazy ass and seal off the wall though, but I'm just so sick of working on it (sorry Tony it'll happen!).
