Hell yeah, I'm looking into getting a Freud downcut bit. I want a triple flute one, but the damn bit costs more than the router did, lol. I'll use my straight cut for now, but I don't have much faith in it. I've already broken a few 1/4 straight cut tool shop bits in the past.

I wonder what's under that... Oh, nice. Tool Shop bits for the lose though. Oh well, better than nothing. I ordered this too... I wonder what that is. Gotta have the trusty steak knife to open the box. Oh yeah. Mounting holes didn't line up, so I had to drill and countersink my own, but it worked fine. Not the best stuff but I'm super happy. Now I can get started on my doors!

I'm not sour about your comments, dude. It's just that when I typed that it what I said came out a little rough cuz I needed to get ready for work when I was writing that, so I didn't have a chance to check over what I wrote, lol. My goal with this song wasn't to chop the beats, but to 'chop' the vocals. I liked how BigPimpin91's original version sounded, but I had only heard about 30 seconds of it but could never find the full version it, so I just made one to my liking. I probably never would have did my version if I had actually found his, lol. However it did kind of seem like you just started ranting cuz I didn't do it the right way. I didn't realize that there was so much involved with chopping beats, but doing C&S music isn't really my cup of tea, and this is probably the only song I'd ever do. I realize from what you explained that it technically isn't chopping, but then what exactly would I call it? I think a thread title of "First Time Cutting Up A Song To Make The Vocalist Repeat Himself" Would be a little farcical. I appreciate the info though.

Hmm I didn't know that there was a proper way to chop... geez... I didn't really intend on trying to do anything "proper" with it as this is the only song I've ever wanted to chop. I didn't like any version that I found, not even yours, so I simply made my own and thought I'd share it. And the BPM of this song is way too slow to do it right, so I just threw the notion of doing it the right way to the wind. I wanted to find the instrumental and the A Capella track and just chop the vocals and match the beat of the song to it, but there are no instrumental and A Capella versions of In The Air Tonight, and most of the instruments have a bandwidth within that of the vocal track so removing the vocals wasn't an option, hence why I just randomly copped the music up too, so that when the vocals and music were chopped at the same time it wouldn't seem as messy.

I second that notion. Let's face it, you have a ported box to get loud and move air, so putting something inside of it that restricts your airflow seems rather contradictory. Bust out the tape measure and measure up the inside of your box and crunch the numbers in WinIsd or the torres calculator, and find out what you are actually tuned to. If you truly were tuned to 27Hz, then the lowest note in Put On, which is 28Hz, should not have been much of a problem to reproduce, especially with subs that have a 30Hz fs. Then again they are just P1s...

Ah, I was curious about it because I was wondering about the rigidity of your box. I'm doing mine in a very similar way except I am going to be doing 2 layers of mdf under the fiberglass to have it be stronger. What is it tuned to?

I really like it, quite similar to how I will be doing my box in my Saab. Do you have wood behind the fiberglass or is it just fiberglass on top of the metal?

HIDs are 100% legal in the US. In fact they come stock in most new cars. In the FMVSS108 lighting law, it pretty much states that the NHTSA is working on getting all illegal lighting companies shut down. So if the headlights are still sold to the general public and do not say "for off road use only" they can be used in your car on the road. FMVSS108 The thing you must keep in mind is that you cannot be harassed for having HIDs, however for not properly installing them (adjusting the angle and whatnot), you can get ticketed. Just use common sense, borrow a set from a friend (if you can) and try them out to see if they'd be too bad.

DC level 3? PM Rusty for a price. I know you can get them in D2 so you could actually use the amp to it's full potential. Or maybe a Sundown SA? I know you can find them on woofersetc.com, not sure where else to get them from though. The DC and the Sundown cost a little more shipped than the AQ does but they are fantastic subs.

That's not clipping, that was probably just youtube loading. Clipping is a broken sine wave. If there is any amount of clipping in the track it is no more than the original version, as I did not boost/add any bass.

What I always do for an engine ground is to pull one of the mounting bolts for the alternator out (might need to take your serpentine belt off for that though) and sand the metal around the bolt hole on the alternator and ground it there. Then run the ground to the factory grounding point by the battery, making sure to sand that down to bare metal too. Then another wire from the factory ground point to the battery negative post. And as far as doing the big 3 on a stock alternator: there is nothing wrong with doing it, and anyone that tells you there is is full of shit.
