  1. I want to upgrade my alarm but after 2 unreplied to threads I have gotten no help from the people on ls1gto.com. so I thought I'd come here. I want to use the Viper 5901 alarm. Which factory immobilizer bypass do I need and any other bypasses I may need. I tried flash-it.com and they didn't have 04-06 gtos listed.
  2. This thing is sweet. I was thoroughly impressed when I heard it. I guess he's had his windows re-tinted since this because they didn't appear purple when I saw it. And the windshield seemed a lot darker.
  3. I wouldn't consider doing this to my own car but the final product is pretty nice. I love the color too. If I had a chance to choose a different GTO now it would have been in that color with a 6 speed. Also glad the owner bought a corvette with a manual transmission for some reason I hate seeing automatic corvettes.
  4. Matt I'm now confused as shit between your fb post and this....
  5. So this is what you were doing instead of trying to get banned on 502ss... lol
  6. Sounds good I'll be watching this build. The discussion on LS1gto.com was that the gas tank in the not US spec cars was where my spare tire well is. Where are your spare tire and gas tank located? I know what your saying about that the Holdens/GTOs seem to do that well my car with weight in the trunk is tucking on stock 17s. I'm going to coilovers when I have this build finished and my summer job is started. I knew the commodore was a 4 door version its looking good. I wish that color came on the GTO. I think I may dump my spare for battery space and my box is going to be bolted over it anyway.
  7. My car with no gas tank in the trunk tears of joy are being shed. lol. I assume you removed the spare tire from where your batteries now are. Nice looking build I like the direction it is going.
  8. I don't know how all of you feel about European license plates especially on American cars. I am leaning towards buying a custom New Zealand plate being that my GTO is built by Holden, an Australian company, and the company I am leaning towards buying the plate from does not sell aussi tags. I am not sure if I will put it in my trunk so at car shows and stuff it will be seen. I may put it offset on my front bumper (no I will not drill holes in my bumper). I may also put it up my a pillar on the passenger side of my windshield like some of the "euro" guys do. The new zealand plate can have 7 digits I have had a few ideas I am looking for a few more. My Ideas: LS1 GTO - not sure about it because it is the forum name for most GTO's GTO SPL DCAUDIO - if I decide to go with DC for my next sub. 2LOUD4U MÖR DBZ or MÖR DBS - if the Z is dumb your opinion GTO DBZ or GTO DBS - " " 2 QUIET - a little bit of a contradiction AUSIPWR I'm open to some suggestions. Here is a link the plate you can play with the layout and see what you like: http://www.customeuropeanplates.com/new-zealand-european-license-plate-p-141.html?category_id=1 Edit: Wow 31 views and ZERO suggestions or even responses. I know my car and its system is nothing to be too proud of yet but give me some response atleast....
  9. I am strongly considering buying an XL 15" sub. What are all my options for different things. The email I received from [email protected] said provide a detailed order. I want to make it detailed so I want to know all of the different options I can go with.
  10. Thank's you all I'm going to think a little bit about what I will do next. But why other than not having great guys like you all to ask would people install a capacitor instead of doing one of the options you all suggested?
  11. The lights don't dim to the point of inability to see at night but they do dim. The only time I can actually tell they are dimming is at stoplights with being able to see my lights in reflections of peoples cars or when my car is parked and I am outside of it. I don't think the power loss is too bad though because the lights just dim slightly. Plus I'd assume a Chevy V8 factory would have a pretty large alternator.
  12. My friend recently had his first system installed in his car. He is insisting that I should have a capacitor in my car. I am also a noob at all things car audio so I don't really know whether or not it's necessary. My electrical system is 100% stock. Stock battery, Alternator, and wiring. The only after market wiring in the car is the 4 gauge to my amp and my ground wire. My car's lights flicker a little bit when the bass hits. The windows are a little slow to roll up with music playing and the car idling, I assume because of the reduced power. When I have the car's volt meter up on my display I stay over 14 volts while driving on the interstate. City driving with the AC on I'm between 12 and 13 volts. Would installing a capacitor be a good idea?
  13. Oh wow I haven't looked at this thread since I posted my reply. I've missed out a little bit. I'd love to meet up with some other bassheads sometime.
  14. Sorry If this question is dumb but Do I need to put the promo code down for the t-shirt in order to get the shirt? Or Will you all ship it either way? I can't figure out how to apply both codes if I need to put both in the promo-code box. thanks
  15. I'm in Prospect so I'm right in between Louisville and La Grange but really it's still Louisville.
  16. I was probably going to order from you all soon anyway and now the additional discount and a t-shirt makes the even better. Hopefully my GTO's trunk will shortly be rattle-free. btw I believe I was 1005
  17. I'm not 100% sure but If I had to put money on it I'd guess its the reason I was out of alignment when my car got serviced last. The car looked like it had a lot of camber. My GTO's rear springs are sagging a little with the stereo even though it only weighs probably 100 lbs. I guess if I put lowering springs on I'll just make sure they're a stiffer spring rate.
  18. I wondered why everyone had their dbs listed and mine said forum N()()B now I figured out why it switched to 120db woohoo. Thanks Meade for the 1st post for N()()Bs like me
  19. Drilled rotors and slotted rotors will both crack but not under normal street use. Track use will crack them up. Agreed 100%
  20. I already replaced them with duralast ceramics. I think I will be going to EBC blue pads for my next event if I use this car again. I will also be installing stainless steel brake lines and using SRF high temperature brake fluid.
  21. I recently went to my first High Performance Drivers Education (HPDE) track event. My GTO needed new brake pads before the track event so I decided to go with Hawk HPS pads all around. They felt incredible on the street so I was assumed they would be fine on the track especially as brand new properly bedded pads. In my 4th and final run of day 1 I boiled my brake fluid. For Day 2 I drove the GTO twice and my dads boxster twice. I split the 2 up GTO run 1, Boxster run 2, GTO run 3 and that run 3 ended the GTO's track tiem for the weekend I lost brakes and then assuming I again boiled the fluid which I had I let it cool until the end of the day and drove the boxster for my final run which was a blast I just had accept I could no longer pass anything but miatas.... I checked my brakes after I heard a squeak driving around the parking lot. My drivers front pad was only a backing plate now. heavy car + high speed + heavy braking= a destroyed set of brand new brake pads in under 300 miles... But the experience was incredibly fun and I was lucky enough to drive my dads car back home with the GTO in a car trailer.
  22. Sorry for the lack of response but the sub/amp has been hooked up and playing since January. I just wanted to see what amp I may want to upgrade to. I currently have a Pioneer GM-D7500M amp. It runs 400 watts rms and 800 watts peak I believe. Thanks for the help however and suggestions.
  23. No I have not but I have gone to discount audio and have been very pleased with them both for my tint and sub/amp install.
  24. As the title say I have several questions about car audio. Question 1. I am planning on upgrading my stock radio to the Pioneer AVH-P3300BT. I was wondering if there were any big negatives to this headunit. Question 2. I have an older Apline Type R. The sub is a 15" 4 ohm sub. What is the highest power rated amp that I can run on my sub safely without blowing it. Question 3. I still have my stock battery in my car I do not really desire to add a second battery to the car just really would like to have one good one. What battery would you suggest I run. Question 4. I would like to know what kind of SPL numbers my system is making. I was looking at MECA's website and there aren't really any close events to me I live in Louisville, KY. I kind of would like to get involved in these kind of competitions but as a 17 year old can't travel too far from home. I was wondering if there were any local events or anything of that nature that I could start into. thanks for the help.
