I have messed with them and they are tanks!
  2. oh baby this guy has alts for my car i thought a high output wouldnt exist for a 96-00 civic, even tho thats what meade runs in the civic build but i just didnt want to go through the hassle of finding one that fits bad ass! now i have hope to throw a few more kwatts into my system
  3. I'm about to use my two pyles as a sub in my room. more for listening to music tho. I am thinking about trying out different tunings for it in a semi adjustable slotted port. That way I can find out which works best in my room, but maybe even eventually whats best for a friends car that may want to buy it. TY
  4. i dont think inverting them will change how you set the cross overs, I just dont see how it would effect your need for that. The only reason I have my sub inverted at the moment is because I have not wanted to drill holes in my pretty sealed box. When I am ready to complete it though and drilling holes for terminals so I can put it back in my boat, you better believe that bad girl will be flipped back over into a regular position. Ty
  5. is this a thread about a civic build? or tearing down the civic to throw it in another car? I got a civic, I will be posted if thats the case TY
  6. photo bucket ftw? i know facebook does not support gifs. it separates it from all those myspace pages where little girls added all that gif bling crap everywehre. IMO, its what that kinda crap needs, clean it up haha try other sites i know everyone has their fav TY
  7. mad funny how crazy would it be if there was insane bass hidden in some of his old songs
  8. I've been messing around with my old Pioneer Amp GM-X574. There is an option for a "high level input." There are two locations for wire harnesses for the A channels and B channels. There are certain applications where a high level input would be nice, however I believe the harnesses do not come with the amplifier. When you have used all your RCAs or only have one set of RCAs coming off the headunit, or maybe even using a stock unit, you may find yourself needing a high level output converter to convert your speaker wires into signal wires an amp can use. On the Pioneer amps, and a few other amps that I have seen, have the same "high level input" harnesses. This harness happens to be the 4 pin ATX harness from typical computer power supply units that connect and provide power to your motherboard in a desktop computer. I ordered a bunch of "4 pin molex to 4 pin ATX converters" from ebay for about $0.99 from China. They arrived in about two weeks and soon I will be able to use yet another amplifier which I may decide to use for wakeboard boat tower speakers. I will be posting pics in a few minutes to show you what I am talking about. Here is a link however to the ebay listing I ordered from. Another thing you could do that I wish I would have done is buy a 4 pin ATX extension cable. That way you have a female and male harness so if you decide to hook up speakers to the high level outputs again, you could attach the female harness to the original wires and hook up the current harness to them and be able to switch between the amp and the original outputs very easily. Posting pictures later tonight of what exactly I am talking about. I love using harnesses to simplify projects. My next project will be adding a 20 pin ATX harness on my boat, car, and work bench so that I can easily connect and disconnect my radio decks and move between the different areas. That way instead of having a vehicle specific harness, I can have a "universal" harness everywhere that I choose to take my deck, and maybe even sell it later on and help with the install. TY
  9. you may be able to hook up the amp to something else right now for it to turn on my cigarette lighter turns on when the car does, which is the same as the radio. Another think you might be able to do is hook it up to the ACC wire that turns the radio on itself. I think it is the red wire on the harness. If the yellow and black are thicker than the rest, the red is the ACC wire. You may blow the fuse for the ACC wire but it will work. I upped my fuse from 5A to 7.5A. Works like a charm. Another thing you could do is hook up a wire to any 12V+ source and then when you want the amp on, flip the switch. I have this in my car anyways because i have a more complex system involving a series of switches. Hit me up if you got any questions. But this is just a solution for you now, to get going on your trip. In the end, the replacement harness is the way to go TY
  10. yeah man whats goin on Its been a while for some new action from him. But if I was posting my 100th VID I think I'd like it to be pretty bad ass He seems pretty chillin man. I like his attitude on this stuff. I know a lot of guys that build their system to be better than yours. He seems to be the kind of guy who just wants to build his and everyones better. Its kinda refreshing to see an old minivan with some wooden windows haha TY
  11. I don't see why 2/0 would be a problem? Maybe the resistance would be too high? Is there more resistance per distance with a thicker wire or thinner wire? Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it wouldn't work just had a question of my own. TY
  12. idk man, i had some coworkers from ireland that heard my subs for the first time and had no idea you could do it. I also got bitched at for being lazy with my auto transmission. They LOVED my boy Brett's Chevy Truck on chrome 24's tho. He also had two 10"s under the seats. good luck finding some irish bass heads tho TY
  13. check out crutchfield.com they usually tell you if you would need an adapter. I think i needed some in my blazer but i never ended up doing it since someone tboned me and i wasnt gonna put the money back into the car to fix it. sometimes you need a special adapter plate, or if you dont feel like cutting a few wires, you could even get the speaker harness adapters. Crutchfield should let you know all that if you go to the "Outfit my car" section. Theres other places for the harnesses and adapter plates if you need them though. But the easiest place on car specific stuff like that would be Crutchfield TY
  14. i got an idea but its hard to describe build log when i get the wood has to do with an adjustable slotted port box it would be a slot port where you have sort of a track laid out where you can add pieces of port to make it longer/shorter other than that its a pain in the ass to describe my goal is to find something that plays the way i want after doing lots of experimenting with different port lengths TY
  15. it has to do with the amount of posts you have posted. It was in one of the updates from steve
  16. dyin for some mystikal man. just found some of his stuff and was impressed. gotta love that flow
  17. thanks guys I am pretty sure this is what I have used before. Its the clear stuff. The cream hardener didn't even seem to get hot. I had to come back with a heat gun to harden up 90% of the resin. That is really a pain in the ass but it does work. You don't get the smoothest finish but it is my base layer and will be sanding and then hoping for a better second coat mixture. May just fool around with some other things and maybe I can find a sweet mix with the "cream" stuff but it is almost impossible to measure due to its toothpaste consistency. Hoping to get the MEKP "shipped" to my local West Marine, via westmarine.com . I got my cheap paint brushes, gonna get some more acetone since my 5+ year old container was bone dry haha, then pops is a dentist so I got the hook up on free gloves. Thanks for all the help! Anything else I should put on my shopping list before I check out? Thanks TY
  18. the resin is a "Bondo" all purpose resin. I used the "Cream" hardener that came with the package. However it says to add 14 drops per oz of resin, but it does not come out in drops, more of a runny tooth paste texture and I have no idea how much to add. When at work, I have used a clear liquid that is easy to drip. Is this the MEKP stuff? It sounds like it Let me know Thanks TY
  19. I bought a kit of resin and it came with the hardener with it. I am used to the stuff at work which was just a clear liquid hardener so I failed to mix this weird hardener paste like substance. I want to get the right kind of hardener that I am used to or at least doesn't need to be mixed before adding to the resin. What kind of hardener do you suggest and where can I get it online? I have tried several local spots and they do not have very many options so a link would be nice. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks TY
  20. Yeah I feel at home when I log on now. This website is great. Like you said, and when there are, we know how to handle them. That guy hating on Meade thread earlier today was funny as shit! I like when the internet is used for good rather than a bunch of 14 year olds and 50+ year old ladies using a screen name and the internet as a proxy to try and make everyone feel as lame as them. Theres already a cure for that drinks and friends. I think I would have liked being around in the "pre-internet" era where all these assholes were still under their rock. But its nice to have places like this, a true oasis in the desert of shit talking which is the internet.TY
  21. I love this website. Sometimes I feel like its a crazy good dream. And then the bad part is I wake up and realize none of my friends have or are interested crazy bass systems. I get the occasional "HOLY CRAP!!!" when people hear my subs for the first time. But it really bums me out when I hit up my friend and I'm like "Yo! you could wall this thing off and get some nasty hair tricks" or even just "put a 10" in the back and it'll really improve your music experience" and all I get in response is "na man thats crazy" or "my stock speakers have good bass already" I missed the curve at my school by like 3 years. When I was a freshman, all the upper class kids had kick ass systems but when I was a senior, I was the only one in the lot with anything bumpin in the trunk. These miami kids have too much to do and feel like working on your car is "peasants work" according to a few of my friends. People are more concerned in getting that 2010-11 model car than making a five year old, or even older car decent and pimpin. I think I was meant to be living somewhere else. I would say 98% of kids in my graduating class would know nothing about anything in a car no joke! I feel like everywhere else, where there isnt as much entertainment bullshit, people actually know how and what to do. I need to leave this crap city and get into UF already. I've heard they like their cars and extracurricular activites For now all I can do is slip into my dream world where everyone has nice systems and helps each other fix and make their systems better Better than nothing TY
