  1. HID sets vary in price, most of all of them come from china, and are very simular from 1 kit to another, but may cost 2 or 3 times as much. I ordered a good 20+sets of HIDs from www.ddmtuning.com for various people, friends, family, myself etc. Average cost is around 60$ per set (with mounting brackets, wiring harness). Their raptor style ballasts are bulletproof, their slim ballasts I dont care much fore, and cost $10 extra. The 5000k, 6000k, 8000k, 12000k etc etc is the temperature of the hid bulb. K means Kelvin. The higher the number the more blue/purple the bulbs are, BUT the less light output they have. So a 6000k bulb will be much brighter and more white then a 12000k bulb which is more purple and has less light output. Stock hids in many cars are around the 4800K-5300K range. What is best is your own liking, no one can answer that but you! To order your bulbs, you first find out what style bulb your vehicle has. Then you goto your hid retailer of your choice and order said hid kits with the same style bulbs. If your factory lights have highbeams and low beams in 1 bulb, then you normally pay more for the special harness and bulb type. If your vehicle has separate bulbs for highs and lows, you would need to buy and install 2 sets to keep your high beams. Technically HIDS are ILLEGAL in ALL STATES unless it is OEM equipped with your vehicle, OR you buy projectors and retrofit the projectors into your headlights (steve meade has a video on his youtube channel how to do this, but every vehicle is different but the concept is the same). You could also buy new headlight housings that have projectors, but the cheap ebay kits for $200ish are usually made of plastic, have the potential to melt, and most are made for Halogen style bulbs, not hids, but some have had okay luck! I have HIDs in all my vehicles for a good 5 or 6 years, and never have gotten pulled over, and dont use projectors. I run 55watt raptor ballasts with 6000k bulbs. I have my lights aimed well and they do not blind others (at least I was never flashed yet, or pulled over for it). HIDs take more power for the initial start up (the first 10seconds or so, when the ballasts are warming up before putting out their full light). After the ballasts for the hids are warmed up they draw less current then your factory halogen headlights. You will also not notice the hids dim like normal headlights do from the amps sucking power to make bass since most ballasts operate in the 9volt to 16volt range to achieve full output. I highly recommend using the prewired relay harness that you can usually buy from the hid retailer, which will make the headlight suck the juice from the battery, and not through your factory headlight wiring. In some but not all vehicles the factory wires can not support the needed amperage for the initial turn on of the ballasts, the relay harness fixes this. wow man thanks for the input you answered my questions and more. im gunna look at my options and ill post what find. thanks again
  2. i have some general questions about the HIDs i want to get some and want to get some more info on them. my car is a 2001 Saturn SL2 i wanna do both the headlights and the foglights, i want them for better vision and because they look cool. Here are my questions... how much for a decent set? What does the 5k 8k ect. really mean and what would be best for me? do you have to take apart the headlight housing or just pop them in like a replacement bulb? Will i still have high/low beams? are they legal in Texas? And finally will they take away more power than my current stock headlights? sorry for all the questions, i just like to get things cleared up before i buy stuff. oh and feel free to post links to some kits that would work for my car! thanks in advance!
  3. LOL in B.M.F. he says "Farted so hard i ripped my skinny jeans" didnt hear that the first time too funny
  4. haha that hilarious its even more funny if you read the comment. everyones always ripping on rick ross weight its funny and mean at the same time but more funny
  5. lol nice thats a huge improvement, what you powering it with?
  6. Yeah hes got some problems and he should get suspended at least a couple weeks. He even went to Rodger Godell to talk over the rules of the NFL. The sad part is that a lot of people were watching this and it gives the NFL a bad look. People say "well thats how football is suppose to be played" well then we will see a bunch of jr. Tackle or little kids stomping eachother cause they wanna be like Suh. I hope he doesnt get thrown out cause he is a good player but this should be his last chance.
  7. Yeah man id get one especially if the skar audio font on the wristband is the same font as on the subs thats font looks sick BUT if its the huge like 1 inch ones and not like as small as the livestrong yellow ill just hang it in my car somwhere
  8. thats crazy and it looks like fun, but only if it wasnt my car
  9. i know its a 1.9 i THINK its a DOHC but not 100 percent. i took a quick look awhile back but i didnt see a direct positive line from alt to the battery but just a glance i didnt really follow any wires. yeah on the trunk rattle its crazy bad cause the car is like 99% plastic lol and i noticed it flexes a lot more than other cars with the same or bigger systems .. because its like 99% plastic
  10. yeah i bet your lights dim a lot like mine gunna have to get the big three done soon. Thanks for the box idea man probably save me alot of time messin with that. The trunk rattle on mine is horrible i fixed it a little bit with foaming it but my saturn has the plastic rear light (just for looks doesnt do anything) that goes across the trunk instead of just the tailights (like yours) and its makes it worse. If you could maybe you could show me how you did your big 3 im guessing the engines are the same i have the inline 4cylinder and its sideways with the alt by the passenger tire, maybe some pics or easy ways to do it that you found out. thanks in advance
  11. what electrical upgrades do you have in your Saturn, i have the same car. Did sealing the box firing forward sound louder than your current box now because i'm thinking of a rebuild soon and want to get some ideas not worried about #s too much. well anyways im lovin the setup man keep it up! Saturns FTW!! lol
  12. Haha that sucked i cracked my radiator and i was getting trans fluid mixed with my coolant i got a new radiator and stuck it in, changed the fluids and its all good now. But yeah im free almost everyday after school and the weekends so whenever you got some free time we can mess with the dd1. Just curious what side of town you live on im on the southeast side hopefully your not too far away so i could stop by sometime
  13. yeah i would have no idea what to do lol, good luck. did you hit up the little comp in converse a couple weekends ago? the same one where i met you at a while back
  14. did you ever figure it out? just wondering. this stuff can be confusing and frustrating sometimes
  15. Nice setup but i think it would be a lot better if it was rotated around and facing inside the cabin. looks clean though good job
  16. Your reaction reminds me of me when i took my uncles 08 corvette out for a spin. lol grinning and laughing the whole time while blasting past cars on the highway... so fun
  17. Ill try taking the fittings to the auto zone and advanced autoparts and all them to see what they can do. thanks for the reply
