  5. Should have these in stock and start shipping today or Monday ; pre-order officially closed.
  6. We've had some e-mail system glitches at the shop. I've been discussing it on our Facebook page the last few days -- the long of the short is that if you sent a message before February 1st and didn't get a response there is a HIGH likelihood that your message was lost; it is not being ignored but it simply isn't here. Our e-mail volume was too much for consumer e-mail programs and they freaked out a bit... various database problems. In any event our new Zendesk support ticket system for our e-mails is working very smoothly; we fired it up yesterday. If you have an e-mail in that is older than February 1st please re-send it to one of these @sundownaudio.com addresses; brandon, contact, sundownz, or if it is a dealer inquiry dealer. Each one is @sundownaudio.com -- since the new system is active that will deposit the message in the new system. Due to the e-mail system glitches we lost alot of messages prior to February. Going into the future the new system should more than handle this as it's used by many MUCH larger companies for their support needs. This applies to the returns e-mail which is hooked up to the RMA form on our web-site; so re-submit that if you did so before February 1st without a response. We will be adding debbie to the system; so follow the same guideline about messages older than February 1st for her -- but wait until after lunch time today (EST). As we will be bringing it online on her system. Messages from Feb 1st until now will be getting put into the system for ticket style responses; we will likely have that imported soon.
  7. Sorry for the delays... e-mail problem is killing us... working as fast as we can to resolve it.
  8. You can call tomorrow ; 704-528-9700 Ext : 3 Debbie can take your order.
  9. I have an open box set in my office that I can pull one out of -- don't use my main e-mail as we are having e-mail issues right now use my [email protected] address. Send a pic to make sure we are discussing the same piece.
  10. I am re-tooling the external housing of the tweeters with our logos in them to spice it up a bit -- so that may help with feeling less "generic" to customers. That will show up along with the revised housing later in the year. I am also pretty anxious for the reference set ; and I am also developing an "X" level set (details not public yet).
  11. We've considered offering a metal or other hard material tweeter as an option ; there will be two groups on the tweeter -- those who like it and those who don't. To me it's the ideal sound in a lower cost unit ; super smooth and flat response and non-fatiguing -- but this is not what everyone wants. I am taking away from the review that you prefer a hard dome ? The tweeter housing is an open tool unit -- as it's very compact and offers a swivel feature. I looked into tooling a metal housing, which would have no sound benefit but would look cool, but we'd also lose the swivel feature. The internals of the tweeter vary from many other units in the same housing ; we've tested several for it -- with many variations of an acoustic lens, ferrofluid or not, rear dampening materials, etc. What we settled on was no lens, heavy damping, and ferrofluid in the gap. As with woofer baskets being pretty universal the same goes for tweeter housings -- but we appreciate the feedback on it. Also I've started a tooling on a bit nicer crossover housing; the housing was also an open tool unit that fit the parts we wanted -- the new housing will offer a bit more flexibility (and be compatible with other future component sets) and will show up later in the year -- thanks for the feedback PS: Did you try running the tweeters closer to the mid LPF frequency ? We have them at 3.8khz in the passive with decent overlap.
  12. We'll likely bring them out in stages; looking at tweeters first, then mids, then complete sets w/ crossovers. The ETA is not available yet, though, but stay tuned.
  13. Oh, I see -- for any woofer unwinding is almost ALWAYS indicative of over-heating -- the heating could have happened prior to failure, weakened the glue, and it can actually fully unwind or slide off the former later on. The failure isn't always going to be acute.
  14. You can fill out an RMA and we can check it out : http://www.sundownaudio.com/index.php/contact-us/return-authorization-form.html
  15. We have not and do not officially endorse 0.5 ohm operation on any of our amps ; but you will find MANY customers do so without an issue.
  16. Our official rating is 1750 RMS -- our ratings are conservative. The ETA has not yet been announced but we will have a rough idea soon.
  17. What will the xmas on this be? It looks good. We anticipate 24-27mm linear by 70% BL on it pending Klippel testing.
  18. It will be very strong thermally ; ahead of the current SA-10/12/15 woofers. We are doing our best mechanically as well ; we spent alot of time and energy on the spider and the surround is also a new tool just for this driver. is the xmax of the v1.5 different from the v2? sa-8. 16.5mm? The BL related x-max is very similar between the v1, v1.5, and v.2 -- but the v.2 is the only one to have a Klippel report done.
  19. An unwound coil is 99% of the time heat related from excessive power ; this indicates coil glue failure (300-500 degrees depending on what woofer you have). If the heating is rapid rather than over time the adhesive will not necessarily discolor.
  20. It will be very strong thermally ; ahead of the current SA-10/12/15 woofers. We are doing our best mechanically as well ; we spent alot of time and energy on the spider and the surround is also a new tool just for this driver.
  21. You need to learn to understand the situation before commenting; especially if you want to voice your opinion so strongly -- I suggest YOU wake the fuck up if you want to use that language -- the dB-R warranty on HIS repair work has nothing to do with OUR warranty on our product; as I stated on the CACO thread. This deal has nothing to do with Sundown and SMD; dB-R is their own company and repair for many other brands as well. I have no issue with Steve and his products and I can only imagine there is some sort of user error going on with any problems -- Chris has his own opinions and he doesn't work for us or represent our opinions; we pay him to repair our products and he does it well; that is the extent of it.
