  1. I got a 12volt fan from walmart for under 10 bucks, plugs into ciagarette lighter, but i direct wired it by my amp, and it keeps things pretty cool
  2. looks good, so much potential any plans?
  3. which one?
  4. black crushed velvet. maybe wont look good in your car, but I love it. It goes on really easy. and i'm kinda curious, i dont see any tweeters. are those coaxials?
  5. pics of 21" sub? i have heard of them [besides jackhammer] but never seen one
  6. Cool, I'll log off and when i come back it will be a surprise for me...
  7. sure its not audiophile, but I bet it will kick my CVR's ass all day. like everyont said, start on not full power and as you get comfortable with how they react, increase the gains to the proper level.
  8. check the fuse on the power wire . [from experience I check it first]
  9. try ebay, or reinke [a member here] has a sony HU that was really inexpensive.
  10. I've experimented with cardboard tubes for ports. I would cut it to length then drench it in the excess resin i has laying around. Mine was 3" ID and was about 3/8'' thick. it was alright considering i spent no money on that box, just excess building supplies and a 6x8 speaker i had laying around. Was some decent midbass, just not punchy. but I didn't think you were supposed to mix slot ports and circular ports like that? it does look a little weird
  11. What is th Fs? [and I dont want to diss your equipment, but I highly dount those subs wil take 400 watts from my experience with them]. and whats the width of the space where your subs wil be going?
  12. If you are worried about airflow to the motors, just invert the subs.
  13. I would atleast do a 150 amp fuse or circuit breaker, if its true 4ga wire it will take it. Best would be get 0 ga wiring
  14. If you still want to see out of the back window, try a wall, but make it "U" shaped. The subs will still be in each corner and then you could port out the bottom. This would allow you to see to back up. But keep in mind, until you are used to the mirror shaking and wobbling, you wont be able to use it anyway without getting a headache.
  15. I take my box out almost every other week, I dont disconnect the wires from the box, I disconect the wire from the amp. It works for me, all I needed was a way to get wire through without using terminals. I could have done direct wire out a hole and then sealed it, but this looks cleaner.
  16. are you using an ipod? sometimes the volume on it needs to be adjusted. but trust me, with that HU you will most likely not have a system sounding like steve's
  17. lol no camera phone. I start on thursday, but I have to pass my drug test on tuesday. I will attempt to get pics. She wants to hear my car, so i'll use that as an excuse to get a vid. Not a very nice install, but probably enough to prove I know what i'm doing. And her hair is too short for a hairtrick. not that my setup would do one anyway. I asked what is louder 2 12's DVC w/ 4ohm coils OR 2 12's SVC w/ 2ohm coils he said SVC, and get this, Because running 2 voice coils take twice the power to be as loud. Then I asked about tuning and peaking of cars, and he said it doesn't matter, all notes are the same loudness. at this point I stopped asking questions and enjoyed the long akward silence as we waited for our turns to be interviewed
  18. You guys are gonna roll. I just got hired at best buy as a car audio salesman. It it pretty much a dream job. My boss, the car audio manager and installer, graduated from texas tech. shes in her mid to early 20's and loves car audio, and extremely attractive. I know most of us hate on best buy, but I will be the one guy in the corner that actually knows what hes talking about. The guy that applied right after me was talkin so much trash, about how his rockford p1's will take my CVR's any time. He even uses the "high output" box from bestbuy [prefab]. lol needless to say I kinda made him look dumb by asking "trap" questions and making it really awkard. normally I wouldn't, but I was tired of his bitchin. Any ways, i'll let you guys know how it works. Too bad I have to train with my boss for three weeks... hope I can take it
  19. I held the bolt from the inside with a pair of pliers. but I guess for some applications that would be too much extra work. did good for me though
  20. i would do all 8 just so you can change configutations without taking the subs out. I used for EACH terminal: in this order bolt [stick the threads towards the outside] ring terminal with speaker wire inside washer wood washer ring terminal and wire nut after it was all bolted in, I used some of that "pefect putty" and sealed the inside of the bolt area. It dried really hard and i can't feel any leaks
  21. i had cell phone interference with my ipod cable which would lead me to believe it is a problem with the signal between the HU an amps
  22. i had a similar problem with the rundll32 file, but it said mine was missing. what i got from all my research was that there are some viruses that work in teams and lay dormant until all parts are together and then it attacks. Mine was one of these parts of a mega virus. I tried several removal tools and eventually just took my important files off my hard drive and started from sctratch. I then took my files to a computer place and they checked them and said they were clean, i installed them on the clean version of windows and it was all good. then i re-installed my p2p software [morpheus and limewire] and it all came back. so i once again wiped it all and this time didn't use any filesharing software and i'm still running good today. long story short, try to not use p2p software without some damn good firewalls and virus software.
  23. you could still build that box i designed for you, since it is 2 seperate chambers. but it would look like shit until you got a second sub. i guess i would just get a prefab for temporary
  24. david you can chime in, but that box is 10 cubes I believe
