  1. If you are going 18V charging system, would run the batcap 8400 IMO is the best bat for that application, replace several batteries with just one.
  2. ^^^^You are way off lol. Part of were people get the info is from EXPERIENCE!!!! Here is a rule of thump for ya, for every 2k of power you need 1 group 31 battery just to run the amp healthy. And then 220+ amps of charging current to keep it above resting voltage(13.1) this is ideal you never want the battery to drop below resting in any situation. AQ3500D.1 pulls 380 amps at full tilt at 14.4 volts. You need 2 group 3100s and need to match the current demand with alt charging to maintain above resting voltage. So 2(270) amp alts will cover all the amps you listed.
  3. What makes an amp get hot fast? Answer clipping and voltage drop
  4. 99 is fuel injected and 94 is tbi so will require a different computer, big reason why most just do the v8 swap.
  5. Explain capacitance in a ac enviroment sir? The use buss bars in every panel I've seen to distribute power to breakers. I think buss bars for batterrys is cleaner looking more efficient and allows current to flow easier yes.as far as all metals conducting the same. Not even close. For example stainless and brass are low on the list. The least corrossive ones usually are. Stick with copper and aluminum. Or have some gold ones made up if your balling lol You slightly missed what I said, a bar or wire will conduct the same, one won't conduct electricity better then the other. If there is the same amount of metal there and they are the same type of metal they WILL conduct the exact same. I would know being I am an electrical engineer lol. And for AC, because of the alternating current and the reactive component(VAR) then you have capacitance, and if the line, wire, bar is big enough and long enough with will act like a capacitor. One example is in transmission, if you have a 345kv line that is 500 miles long and open ended, the voltage at the open will be higher then the voltage at the closed end. You get voltage rise due to the capacitive nature of the line.
  6. Haha wow, metal is metal, don't matter if it is a bar or round wire, conducts the same, in dc conductive metal doesn't have capacitance like it would in a AC environment.
  7. Well, its not an assumption. I've talked extensively with the US Sales Rep for Cactus, and the covno was mainly about the K9 (Same amp as DC 9K). Talked to him about burping it below .5 and above .5... Rob, you aren't the average joe blow either... I'd only recommend people that know what they are doing, do what you've done... I think the level 5s would come apart before the truck on 9k each. I'd say at full tilt, yeah, but I'm pretty sure it can be done... I think people have ran a shit ton of power to those Lv5 18s and done stupid loud numbers before... But, then again, what do I know... It's all hearsay... Lol... I heard those same people smoke amps before subs too.
  8. Oh they should send you a bill, they should just on principal.
  9. I changed out batts and now it is reading alot closer, .3 of difference all the time, with only one alt being controlled by VCM, will all connected no difference. Think it might of been that the batts needed a charge.
  10. Shreveport convention center, I am currently holding 2nd in mod 1001-2k
  11. Yes it is 4 inch alum flat wound coil in dual 1 only made in 12, 15, and 18.
  12. '97 Grand Voyager...soccer mom van. 6 18" HDC's in a 6th order clam off 6 AQ3500's Mike are those dual 1s? Wired at .5 per amp? alum or copper? Thanks man, great job too, judges reaction was priceless!!!
  13. Yes the 15.4 was the alt in stock location and yes very little load on the alts.
  14. But they aren't geared built for that, spl sub, doesn't mean you can't play music with them, just there are better subs if you want to play music loud, like the hdc3.
  15. These are spl based competition woofers that will handle 8k+ on burp. Not recommended for music or be a very musical sub.
  16. LOL, all the power comes from the battery, the alt just maintains the battery. WOW, why do you guys think db drag competitors and extreme vehicles run an ASS load of batteries? Because that is where power is made at the battery. Granted on a daily system you want you current draw to match or slightly exceed your demand(current draw, i.e. the load). So best solution, slightly larger alternator and agm batteries, add your amp fuse ratings up and add that to your stock alt, best would be to current clamp the amps. So if you amps need 150 amps of fusing and your stock alt is 120 amp, then you need a 270 amp alt, PLUS the same amount of RC capacity in battery reserve to maintain a healthy electrical. BIG 3 is a MUST once you upgrade your alt. Is low voltage bad? Best way to toast your amps in a hurry. Hope that helps.
  17. I can promise one thing, every show I go to people know the products that I run, my truck also draws a pretty large crowd of people. Here is a show a few weeks back where this girl got scared. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5BcRI1s1mfY&feature=results_video&playnext=1&list=PL2F5835028E92782C
  18. Woah...didnt know that. 1 vote for everyone inc...JK! Although it seems I cant vote after I click the vote button. Guess I should have read it better. And aye AMI...only 60 feet. Like shooting someone in the face for no reason, it was only a full clip. Haha, 60 sq ft is alot for one door, trust me. My door doesn't flex that much anymore, it moved up to the front fender now. Thanks for the vote!!!
  19. This. Although deepsilencer was a close second. I just know AMI already has a billion square feet of SS on his doors alone. This the door you talkin about, nah not me lol. Only about 60 sq ft THANKS FOR THE VOTE!!!!
