Let me just throw this out there.. Ryan from hawaii car audio has 4 level 5 18s in a wall. Its single layer mdf all around, braced with all thread. He's never had an issue with box flex or anything breaking apart.

I would be using it for daily. Electrical would be stock alt (140a) and a 4 50ah batteries in addition to the stock one. So not great, not bad. logan has a lot of experience with the amp, but don't off the bat just drop the load to .5 ohms. i had one ap3k at 1 ohm bridged, and it smoked even on the electrical i have. keep it at 2 ohms bridged or 1 ohm each channel if you can. especially since you are getting this amp off a budget. i dont want you to just waste money. and itll keep the vehicle you put it in from smelling like "fried amp". the smell doesnt go away for a long time I'll take note thanks. I'm also open to suggestions since it doesn't seem like this amp is all that great.

I'd say I agree. But for various reasons I am not allowed to get my own car lol.

My parents FINALLY gave me the OK to put a system in my(their) car. It just has to be removable, no cutting into anything, and if I break it I buy it. Seems reasonable to me WOOT :yahoo: WOOT

Just thought about this... Since electrons have a negative charge - that would make it so that it's the negative post is the side with the excess of electrons. That means that the electrons flow out of the negative post and into the positive post. Or so I reasoned... If this isn't right, could someone give me a very technical explanation as to why? Thanx

No, that is a photochop by XS Power to promote their new line of batteries. that was done a few months ago or so. I dont think Steve would switch to batteries that are the same size, but have a lesser discharge, even if they would be free. Isn't that his box before he did all of his trim work for the SMDs?

Just to the rest of the forum knows: the subs are wired so they are getting 8k right now. He's going to have 32k once his second 16k gets repaired

OP - clipping would do that. How did you set your gains? 1/4 1/4 gain does not mean 1/4 power. Gain is essentially input sensitivity: a weak signal will a pretty high gain setting, while a strong one will need a low gains setting before the amp clips. Get, or find a friend that has either an oscilloscope or DD-1 to check for clipping from both the head unit and the amp. Set your amp gains, then pull out your mutimeter and turn the gain knob down so it is putting out half the voltage it was doing at maximum (clean, unclipped) power. Then you know your subs are getting ACTUAL 1/4 power. I'll see what I can do, aside from the o-scope or dd-1 since that's well out of my budget limit and I know of no one that has one, is there a way I can tell I can tell for clipping? Are your mids and highs going through an amp or just off the deck?

Craigslist has some people who are to say it plainly - ignorant about audio, it's products, and it's prices. Just keep trying, you will at some point find a buyer. You can also sell on here too

Even a 16 would be too big for what I am doing lol. A 14 would be just right, else I would have to go down to a 12
