Have you pressed on the cones? checked the suspension? make sure it's not rubbing anywhere? could be a damaged VC or something..

Spray around the edge of the room along the baseboards, try to get it up under really well, If you don't mind huffing bug spray it can't hurt to do the carpet as well, and yea, stop eating in ur room, and get some bait traps when u can, they're like little roach motels for ants. If you can kind of find where they are coming in, spray there well and seal it up. Also get kill-on-contact/extended kill combination spray. It'll kill em and keep killing em for a few weeks.

The battery is in the trunk. The diagram shows pretty much where everything is placed. my amp's ground wire is like 10 inches long. and the 0 AWG from that bolt to the battery is like 6 inches long.

I sent it to soundstream. i'll hear what they have to say about the coverage on it. it IS under warranty, i've only had it 1 month of the year. but i don't know if they'll cover it. ya dbr. they are an amp repair company that has a very good reputaion. if its under waranty then they SHOULD fix it or send you a brand new one of the latest model. thats what kicker and fosgate does if you blow their woofers and its still under warranty. I hope they fix it. And ya, i'll keep repairs in mind for the future, but for now, it'd be cheaper to buy another one that get repaired if it was 200. Doesn't matter right now anyway, i still have to give Soundstream a call and see if they've processed it yet. The UPS tracking said it just got there today. So i'll give them till tuesday or wednesday and call them.

Will do. I NEVER use bass boost on my HU or ipod.. so that should be alright... I'll double check my actual Eq too, but i'm pretty sure it's fine.. Should i do this with the bass knob/remote gain knob connected or not? If i disconnect it it's the same as if it was all the way up? and it's a bass knob for the amp, not one of the RCA ones..

Well good i guess? glad to hear it might just have been defective. And yea i know the voltage was too high, i was in the process of adjusting that, i know i should've started at the bottom and worked up... and is it safe to meter the next one the same way? Or should i do something different?

If the gain was to high what would happen? It'll clip right? could that blow the amp? cause it's possible it put out more than 1700 watts for too long? would that fry it? **EDIT Sorry if that's a stupid question. i just never thought about it.. i didn't think it WOULD put out more than 1700...but i just did the math, if the DMM ever read 40+ which i think it did, then it could blow right?? cause that's more than 1700 watts..

Soundstream DTR 1700 watt RMS.. and to be honest i don't remember what it read... I know the gain was 4/5 the way up give or take. I was tuning it so that at 3/4 HU volume, where i keep it, the amp would be at 1,100 watts. I don't remember what it was reading when it blew though. 30-50 volts region.

It was FINE, reading full output as i was tuning it for the first 20 seconds of the tone, then all of the sudden the DMM showed zero, so i lifted the trunk lid and it was in protect. It went into protect in the middle of the tone. and I was just pointing out, after the fact, and after the amp was blown, boon had me check random stuff with the DMM, and one of the things that turned out effed up was the fact that the remote input is shorted to ground, inside the amp. I didn't open the amp cause it's still under warranty, IF they'll warranty whatever happened. I'll know monday or tuesday...

Ok, I had another post about this, but it wasn't specifically about this, so here's the deal. I was tuning my gain with a DMM, with the probes screwed into the terminals, so NO, the outputs did not short! Anyway, I was metering it, and about half way through the tone, the DMM read 0 volts, i look at the amp, and it's protecting. NOW the amp protects with nothing but power, ground, remote. EVEN with just power and ground it protects. I sent the amp to soundstream to get it repaired, hopefully under warranty. Anyway, If i get it fixed or replaced, i don't want it to happen again. I don't know what happened. No one was able to tell me what was wrong with the amp either. One strange thing is that if i place the DMM between the +12v and Remote, it reads 14 volts, as if the remote turn on is shorted to ground. Boon said that the power supply section is probably fried, but WHY did this happen? I can rule out output shorts... Only thing i can say is i'm on a stock batt and stock alt, could the power supply blow from Low voltage? The amp DOES HAVE low voltage, high voltage, output short, and overheat protection.... I will post a pic of my wiring to see if anyone sees something wrong. I'm drawing the conclusion that the Amp was defective, but i'm not hooking up the new one until i'm absolutely positive. Any help would be much appreciated. Anything i didn't cover, just ask. Here is my wiring:

Take the door off, but don't underestimate how heavy a car door is. Especially if your light like me lol. And just mark the hinges, u'll be fine.

Haha sorry man i can't help with the ports and such, i'm REALLY not the type for custom boxes. I build mine, but i build directly from manufacturers specs. Someone will get back to you on that, as for the T5's surround, I'd say there's not much to worry about with that, Unless you're giving em too much power. Soundstream subs can really take a beating.

If you need dimensions or plans for a box, you have to give some info like dimensions of the trunk or hatch you're putting it in, port shape and design depends somewhat on the box shape and design. **EDIT Are you talking 4" diameter ports, 18" long? x3?

Ya sorry that's what they are called. The studio size is called something, the smaller ones are called "solo" and the ear buds are called "tour" and yea, those are freaking amazing. if you run by best buy they'll have a pair hooked up u can listen to and see if u like them.

Take the list of everything you just made, then go look at amazon, or sonicelectronix, then realize how much you are over spending, then realize how much BETTER and LOUDER your system will be if you buy the right stuff from the right places, and try to install it yourself. Trust me man, best buy has it's limits, and if you are serious about car audio, you need to start with DIY, and your OWN car is the place to start. If you ever plan to get really deep into this, you will be able to do SO MUCH MORE than just buying stuff and getting it installed. 1/2 of my love for car audio, is installing. the other half is listening... just my opinion.
