  1. thanks, I've just got a 500wrms amp at 2 ohms but I'll give it a try at 1 and see how it goes
  2. You serious? I'm about to get a lvl 4 and I was thinking that I would have to feed it a lot of power to even wake it up lol
  3. if the belt's the problem then I'm taking it right back to the shop and telling them to fix what they messed up. I didn't have this problem before it went into the shop for a new timing belt... I also didn't have the battery die on my 2 times before going into the shop so I'm willing to bet that it's the battery, but it could be either. I'll give that a try and see what I have to do to get it fixed. It's no big deal right now because I'm bassless for the moment, but I want to get it straightened out before the sub finally comes in
  4. thanks for that info, I'll try doing that tomorrow and if it's bad, then it might be time for an XS battery I'm still constantly learning about this stuff lol, thanks again for the help
  5. fucking el oh el that you know year of my car and all, its a great car and all but there is always a problemyes it has charged since my dead battery incident. I'm not positive how old the battery is. I got the car beginning of last summer and it hasn't been changed since then. It's the duralast gold battery... do you know what would cause a fluctuating 12v source? I'm going to try removing the big 3 but I don't think that's the problem because it was done correctly and I haven't seen any issues with it... improvements actually up until now 98 ford escort zx2duralast gold underhood battery 4 cylinder sylvania silverstar halogen bulbs
  6. Okay so here is my problem. I have no sub or amp running currently. I have solely HU powering my speakers in my car right now. big 3 has been performed when I drive the lights will slightly dim then go normal. It does this about every second for some reason. maybe someone out there has experienced the same problem?
  7. that sounds pretty safe.... here's a video of an m2 lvl 4 supposedly taking 2000+ wrms OP, if you run more than its rated, then I would make sure that the music your playing is clean and NOT clipped
  8. i believe rated at 900wrms? m2's I think have the new baskets too?
  9. same here, if you can shit like a big boy, then you can get the shit kicked out of you like a big boy
  10. wow, that's truly sad. do kids really not have anything else to do with their time than make fun of an older lady trying to help out? just because they are in high school or middle school doesn't make them invincible Edit: kids are cursing at such younger ages too like wtf... I curse on a daily basis now but I mean I'm in college and it's just the lifestyle I'm in right now. I never really cursed even in high school
  11. If you aren't going to upgrade at all in the future then this is a great idea, but...do it right the first time. I bit the bullet and paid for 1/0 gauge fosgate wire in case I upgrade my system in the future. I'd rather do the big 3 once and be done with it. and whaddayaknow... I'm upgrading right now lol
  12. hold up. are the subs dual 4 or single 4, in that case a parallel wiring would give you a 2ohm load. at that power you probably won't be able to turn many heads, I'm running 500wrms in my car and it's not too loud outside of the car... you hear the mids and highs more than you do bass and mids and highs are only powered by the HU Edit: 2 single 4 subs will give you an impedence of 2 ohms wired in parallel
  13. LOL, most of this thread was argument. anyway.... holy excursion batman, NO way I could afford that sub and I probably won't ever hear it in person but that looks rediculous.
  14. haha! i wish, but like i state i currently cant have anymore power in my car than 1k. i dont think i could get any significant flex with a level 6. what RMS/Peak are those anyways? no significant flex????? you clearly haven't seen this video then wtf, i have 1k rms... anyways, thanks for the help guys. i think im going to go with the 2 Level 2's as you guys said, its more cone area. im thinking they will get more flex and hopefully louder than my Type R's. and crandis16 i think you're correct. because i would see old videos of people slapping pairs of Level 3's on 1k rms, but i checked the website and they're 900 rms a piece, which made no sense compared to the amount of excursion they were getting. so im thinking DC is just stepping up their game so the 2 12" Level 2's it is. (once i save up of course lol) the old lvl 3's were rated at 600wrms... essentially the level 2's now. The subs can really just take a beating. I'm getting the level 4 soon which is rated at 1400 wrms but I've seen some videos of people feeding it 2000+wrms lol. DC is pretty much awesome
  15. lol thats what the range thing is for? haha like I said I'm still a noob but I'm pretty sure thats what you want to do. If you get it in that range then I believe you will achieve the correct port area to net volume ratio.... once again I'm not expert, I would try asking someone who has built more than one box in their life hahaha. I've designed probably 5 or so now but most have been scrapped due to change of plans
  16. 3D modeling software FTMFW. I have only used Pro/Engineer and I use Inventor at work. overall looks good and everything seems to be in check although shouldn't you aim for 17 in^2 / ft^3??? and shouldn't you try to get the port area in between the values that it gave you? I'm still a noob at box designing Edit: Ninja'd^^^^^^
  17. haha! i wish, but like i state i currently cant have anymore power in my car than 1k. i dont think i could get any significant flex with a level 6. what RMS/Peak are those anyways? no significant flex????? you clearly haven't seen this video then
  18. I agree.... 2 12's, more cone area should result in more power. I have thought about this too but I'm going with a single 12 due to trunk size :/ oh, IB4L too. an m1 lvl 3 is essentially same thing as m2 lvl 2. I believe I saw a m1 lvl 3 for sale on the forum too
  19. I can't wait to see this come together. A DC audio sales rep said that they weren't sure if I would get my 12" lvl 4 because a very large order was put in lol. I'm assuming that was yours hahaha. good luck man... it's going to SLAMMMMM
  20. Something wrong with a ford? No way. Never happens. Glad you got it fixed OP. el oh el... it's definitely a ford. At lease I somewhat have the knowledge to troubleshoot whats going on and fixing it myself as opposed to taking it to a shop and saying "fix it"
  21. I don't know how you do the things that you do steve. you make it look easy to all of us. looks really good sir
